1.0 out of 5 stars Fancy pictures but no Help !, February 19, 2008
This review is from: How To Rebuild Corvette Rolling Chassis 1963-1982 (Motorbooks Workshop) (Paperback)
I bought this book to have help restoring my chassis on my 1969 vette.

There are no pictures of teardown, "where and how to"- detailed desriptions wich i bought it for, very little technical info, just most pictures on parts already taken apart and painted and some other pictures parts etc wich could be of little help atleast.

Totally waist of money in my opinion, DO NOT BUY !!!.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent book!!!, July 11, 2011
This review is from: How To Rebuild Corvette Rolling Chassis 1963-1982 (Motorbooks Workshop) (Paperback)
I began a full frame-off restoration on my second 1980 Corvette in July of '09. To prepare myself, I loaded up on reference material. Part of that was to purchase three books that were published by Motorbooks Workshop. Two were dogs, however George McNicholl's book on how to rebuild the Corvette rolling chassis is by far the best resource I have. I'm 2 weeks away from completing the suspension rebuild on on beautifully refurbished frame. George's book has led the way for me and has also saved me a ton of money. Unlike other Motorbooks Workshop authors, George writes from his own experiences after restoring his two early C3 Vettes, plus assisting friends with their restorations. He offers sound, no non-sense advice on how to build a daily runner that is better than factory stock. And that's the trick, he's all about building a reliable runner, not a numbers matching show "princess". He also includes O.E.M. and aftermarket supplier parts numbers to help make the sourcing out of replacement parts much easier. This alone makes the book worth its weight in gold. To the previous reviewer who was complaining that the book didn't supply teardown photos; disassembling a Corvette is an incredibly easy undertaking. If you need help tearing down a Corvette then you shouldn't be attempting a re-build. George's book is a treasure-trove of valuable information. This book gets two thumbs up from me. Something I don't offer up very often. Good on ya George!!!
