This book covered the history of the Carter/Edelbrock companies and the variety of carburetor products they have offered. I personally was more interested in getting my carburetor tuned and less about history and how a carburetor works...although the latter is useful information to the uneducated. The information on tuning was pretty weak. There just wasn't a good step-by-step procedure laid out. I did better by downloading the "owner's manual" on line. However, if interested in rebuilding your carburetor, the step-by-step with color pictures is nice.

This book is a good source of knowledge on the history of Carter and Edelbrock carburetors. The book deals primarily with the Carter Thermo-quad, Edelebrock AFB and AVS, and Will Carter Four Barrel (WCFB). Early chapters deal with the history of Carter and it's subsequent merging into modern day Edelbrock. Alot of good info for those not familiar with carbs, especially TQ's and AFB/AVS. Those looking for a step by step book would probably be best served with a technical manual on the carb though. Rebuilding is reserved for the last chapter or two and is, while the pictures are good, the text is a little lite in that area.

I use these carburetors in racing and really liked the break down and parts inventory that this book showed me.

Did not give me the details I was looking for in adjusting and fine tuning the carb on the car. Good info for rebuilding. I guess tuning a carb is more art than science. Gave good info on carb types and on matching to the CID.
