Book Description

June 30, 2007
If you want to modify your carburetor-equipped vehicle for performance today, you can choose from three major carburetor families Holley, Demon, and Edelbrock. While Holley and Holley-style carburetors like Demon have been popular for years with their well documented successes and quirks, there has never before been a book covering the ins and outs of the emerging Edelbrock line of carburetors.
How to Rebuild and Modify Carter/Edelbrock Carburetors reflects the emergence of Edelbrock carburetors as the predominant Carter-style carburetors in the market today. A revision of the best-selling title Super Tuning and Modifying Carter Carburetors, this book contains more than 300 color photos, illustrations, and diagrams, covering rebuilding, tuning, and modifying Carter and Edelbrock carburetors.
This book also features the history of Carter as well as the history of the AFB and the AVS since the purchase by Edelbrock. Author David Emanuel outlines carburetor types, gives a thorough look at carb selection and carb function, and offers detailed information on modifications, tuning, and rebuilding Carter/Edelbrock carburetors.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good overview of topic, but lacking detail, February 27, 2008

This review is from: How to Rebuild and Modify Carter/Edelbrock Carburetors: Performance, Street, and Off-Road Applications (Paperback)
This book covered the history of the Carter/Edelbrock companies and the variety of carburetor products they have offered. I personally was more interested in getting my carburetor tuned and less about history and how a carburetor works...although the latter is useful information to the uneducated. The information on tuning was pretty weak. There just wasn't a good step-by-step procedure laid out. I did better by downloading the "owner's manual" on line. However, if interested in rebuilding your carburetor, the step-by-step with color pictures is nice.

3.0 out of 5 stars A history of, rather than how to, rebuild Carterbrocks, January 2, 2011

This review is from: How to Rebuild and Modify Carter/Edelbrock Carburetors: Performance, Street, and Off-Road Applications (Paperback)
This book is a good source of knowledge on the history of Carter and Edelbrock carburetors. The book deals primarily with the Carter Thermo-quad, Edelebrock AFB and AVS, and Will Carter Four Barrel (WCFB). Early chapters deal with the history of Carter and it's subsequent merging into modern day Edelbrock. Alot of good info for those not familiar with carbs, especially TQ's and AFB/AVS. Those looking for a step by step book would probably be best served with a technical manual on the carb though. Rebuilding is reserved for the last chapter or two and is, while the pictures are good, the text is a little lite in that area.
