this book is informative and useful to someone that has limited experience rebuilding engines. It provides usefule information on tear down and rebuild.

Caution: it is almost word for word, picture for picture identical to George Reid's "How to Rebuild 4.6-/5.4-Liter Ford Engines (S-a Design, Workbench Series)". Purchase one or the other, but not both as I unfortunately did.

Not as detailed as id expected but its a must have either way. Perfect for newbies like me. Doing my first engine build and this is valuable. I just wish there was more detail. Too much time spent in the machine shop, not enough on assembly.

This is a standard rebuild book, not exactly step by step outlined, but it covers most everything plus a few performance tips, nothing you cannot find free on the internet though. Sadly there is not much info on the late model 5.0 EFI which is what I was looking more for, but this will still com in handy this winter when I tear my engine apart.

This book gives the rebuilder all the critical information that is needed to perform a successful overhaul of a small block Ford engine. The text is clearly written and there are many color photos to illustrate the proceedures that have to be performed. There are also a number of spec. charts and tables that list critical dimensions and clearences. This book is valuable to both the pro and the newbie.

When I received the book I only had time for a quick
flick through,but could tell the content would be
excellent. Can't wait to get a serious read. I'm sure
my engine rebuild will be made a lot easier.

No single book is every going to meet everybodys needs. I purchased this book (amongst others) to give me perspective on my engine building project. This is a great book with nice colorful pictures. When building an engine, reading how to do something is not as good as looking at a picture with somebody illustrating the reading. This book has lots of great pictures and information to help you be successful in building an engine and understanding what parts affect performance. This does NOT have technical information like Torque for bolts which you can find in manuals.

I reccomend this book for anybody that is learning how to build engines or learning about how they work.

I've built engines before, but never a Ford, so I bought this hoping for more Ford-specific information. Unfortunately, it spent too much time talking about the machine-shop stage and none on pre-assembly. Furthermore, there were only a handful of torque specs, and no note of the firing order for different engines. I spent more time looking things up on the Internet than referencing this book. It served as a high-level guide to the general assembly process, but it's a poor how-to for the DIYer.

Very well written book that is easy to follow. Gives you some decent basics for a small block engine build.

The book does have a lot of helpful information but there are several typos that could cost you. Some of the specs and torque settings were wrong.
