5.0 out of 5 stars wicked synthesis, August 15, 2004
By

truly original and powerful welding of new digital minimalism and a free jazz dynamic, sometimes with head nodding rhythms. stop and go strategies reveal crystaline overtones and awesome turrential noise; gorgeous sustained passages fused with swatches of finely sculpted noise undercut by an insistent pulse. This material reconciles many dichotomies - live and studio techniques, jazz and electronic traditions, clinical modern and traditional earthy aesthetics. This is the kind of fusion we need more of: one that points to myriads of possibilities for the future while not compromising glories of the past.

4.0 out of 5 stars Above average "glitchy/experimental" project, September 16, 2002

While you won't find any standout songs on this album, you'll find lots of interesting soundscapes full of glitchy beats, high pitched static and squeals. Not recommended for casual listening or the more "pop" oriented music fan, but there's definitely something here worth listening to if you're interested in curiously constructed experimental music. A great headphone experience.

3.0 out of 5 stars Average stuff, August 30, 2002

Rather average release from Thrill Jockey here. Cut up band rehearsals with computer generated noise layers. Nothing very ground breaking and more importantly, nothing really absorbing in the listening experience. There is potential however, if the group mature in the developement of their music.
