After the impeccable "Today", Gal went through a period where motherhood took her away from the World Stage, except for rare appearances here and there, quite a few for those that love to listen to her crystal's voice. In RECANTO, Gal comes back to the scene, in great style (as always), introspective and open at the same time to the influences of the world music, without leaving behind, her swing and always impeccable interpretation of any songs...This time, she cames with a set of songs written specially for her by none less than the "Mano" Caetano Veloso the most relevant Brazilian song writer/poet of all times; in lyrics that remain, every time they are listened, more intriguing then the time before it.Perfection to be sorved slowly and passionatelly.BRAVO!

The album is a open rebellion against the world of today and its pop culture (Neguinho) - In this operation they used the cheap music style of the international music forced by MTV - Lady Gaga, Britney Spears, autotune.... in a decadent way - It's a very intimistic album too (Recanto Escuro is a wonderful track) - You have to understand portuguese for to know how great this outstanding album it is.

What is going on here? Were both Caetano and Gal totally uninspired when making this album? I saw Gal life at Carnegie Hall a year ago (+/- March 2011)and she was amazing and had all it takes to inspire. This album is indeed completely flat and boring in the instrumentation (if you want to call it that), the arrangements and the singing. Of course this can happen to the best artists. However, after several tries, just like the previous reviewer, I threw it out and won't give it another try.

This album, the last album by Gal Costa, sounds annoying, boring; it is nothing if compared with her previous efforts, both the most recent ones and the old ones; after a pair of listen, I've thrown this album in a shelf, without having the desire to listen to it again and to give it a second chance.
