Great for a temp fix!,
By
This review is from: Recapit No Mix Cement, Maximum Strength, 1 g. (Health and Beauty)
I too have to disagree with the first reviewer. I have had ongoing work that required me to wear a temp bridge, as well as a lower crown that kept falling out. I tried everything. I didn't have the money for the dentist and even used crazy glue (for the lower crown) The dentist gave me fix-o-dent for the temp bridge, but it tinted my tooth pink! And fell out. This product was thin enough yet strong to hold, unlike some of the others you roll in between your fingers. I used it quite sucessfully for many months. In fact, I'm still using it today, as I'm done with the bridge and saving for the crown repair. The only problem I had is finding it at a local store. The other brand (hand ball kind) is everywhere. The green RECAPIT is the bomb!

Outstanding product,

I've used this product for more than a year now. I've had caps remain firmly in place for as long as 4 months without exercising any extra care in chewing. I've used it on more than 4 occasions. I believe, as another reviewer, that one must follow directions meticulously.

Works So Far,

I have to disagree with the first review. I lost a temporary cap while waiting for my bridge. I used this product and have been very surprised. It has been 48 hours and the cap is still firmly in place. I have chewed lightly on the area. My best advice is to prepare exactly as the directions state. I took the time to clean the inside of the temporary which made the biggest difference.

I've tried this product twice. Two different purchases. It's the only brand I could find in a rush. I followed the instructions carefully. The product just doesn't work well. If you eat, your crown will come out. I suppose if you have nothing better - go for it, but be prepared to re-install your crown every time you eat. The first time I bought it, I just figured it was old and dried out, but the second wasn't much better. I would try a different brand before I would go back to this one.

Did not work for me,
This review is from: Recapit No Mix Cement, Maximum Strength, 1 g. (Health and Beauty)
I bought this at Walgreen's. I have tried it three times, following the directions exactly, and it does not work. It's as if I tried to glue my crown with water.

not useful for maryland bridge,

This review is from: Recapit No Mix Cement, Maximum Strength, 1 g. (Health and Beauty)
A quick FYI. I was hoping this would be an adequate over-the-counter temporary cement for a maryland bridge that had come out (after ~10 years). It was not. Though I attempted to follow the directions carefully, the bridge never stayed in place for more than a few hours. It is not advertised as a cement for this purpose, but does mention bridge replacement in its instructions.

I had a large temporary crown pop off and I was not scheduled to have the permeneant installed for 16 days. I purchased some Recapit to relieve the sensitivity to hot and cold fluids. The instructions for this product are clear and easy to understand. It is very important that you follow them, especially in regards to cleaning out the inside of the crown and assuring it is dry prior to putting the product inside of it. I placed the crown back into place and there it stayed for 16 days. Even the dentist was impressed with how well it was holding. I used some sense and tried to keep hard and sticky foods away from this crown. However, I did still chew lightly on it. While I do not expect that you could chew gum or apply heavy pressure to a tooth being help in place with Recapit, it worked perfectly well in my application. Good product...follow instructions as directed.

I tried DenTek Temparin Max first, which was completely worthless for crown repair. The crown would pop off if I ate scrambled eggs, or rice, or grapefruit, or anything really. Kinda ridiculous. I tried different amounts and application variations about 6 times to see if it was user error, but Temparin Max is just a crappy product. After my Temparin ordeal I picked up some Recapit at RiteAid and gave it a go, and it's freakin' AWESOME!!! I've chewed eggs, hard granola, pecans, rice, fruit, etc. etc., and it's all "BRING IT ON FOOD!!!! I'LL TAKE YOU DOWN, BITCHES!!! >:O" I am thoroughly impressed with this product and would toooootally recommend it. :) |
