May or may not work with your car...,
By
This review is from: Recaro Como G2 Child Safety Convertible Car Seat, Raspberry (Baby Product)
I wanted to love this car seat. I feel like I really tried. Our friends swear by Recaro and have used the Como for both of their children, so when we found the Como on sale for more than half its list price, we bought it sight unseen thinking it was going to be the be-all-end-all of convertible car seats. I don't know if it's the make/model of our car (2003 Ford Taurus) that is making this car seat impossible to work with, but I'm ready to light it on fire. It sits so high in the back seat (rear-facing) that maneuvering my wiggly 8-month old son into it is a fight every time. The side-impact protection wings mean that I have to turn him sideways and practically scrape his face on the ceiling of our car to get him in and out of it...which he is obviously not pleased with. Additionally, the size of this thing is monolithic, and has almost totally occluded my vision out of the car's rear window when placed in the center (as recommended by the CHP)...this, combined with the giant blind spots that are created when I have to check left and right while driving makes me feel like I'm driving with my eyes closed. Perhaps it's just the slope of the rear window. Perhaps out car has lower ceilings than others. Our friends drive an SUV, so perhaps it works fabulously in that scenario. I also don't feel like it's designed well to stay securely in place. Even using the LATCH method, it was extremely hard to tighten down the belt and still wiggles all over the place. I installed a Britax Marathon 70 in my mother's Prius earlier tonight, and it doesn't move a millimeter when secured in place or obscure the driver's vision from the sides or out the rear window. If I can return it, I'm going to. If I can't, maybe it's better as a front-facing seat with the additional top anchor in place. But at this point...I hate our Como with a passion after about 3 weeks of regular use, and my son does too. Recaro is just not for everyone, I guess.

Love this carseat sturdy and feels like luxury to me. I love the ease of the installation and compatibility with most cars. I have a BMW X3 and they both fit with enough room for an adult/teen child in the back. My 7 yr can sit in his sister's "Como G2)of course he is too tall but the has the Recaro Pro Sport(Midnight)a 5 point harness up to 80lbs and 59" which will then convert to a high back booster up to 120lbs. I Love Recaro!!!!

Great Seat!,
This review is from: Recaro Como G2 Child Safety Convertible Car Seat, Raspberry (Baby Product)
We have been using this seat for about 6 months. Altogether, I really like it and would encourage any family to get one for their little one. Here is my list of pros and cons: Pros: 1. We use the latch system, and this seat gets so tight! I love how secure it feels!! When I hook it into the car, I actually climb up and put my knee into the seat, lean on it with all my weight and pull tight. After that, I can't even slide it when I push with all my muscle :) 2. The side impact protection allows for my daughter to really be sitting down in this seat, rather than just "on" it. This was the reason I went with the Recaro over the Britax. If we got into a side impact collison, I know she would be protected. 3. There is a button in the front that makes the straps easy to losen and tighten while getting in and out, so I can make sure it is the correct fit, but she doesn't have to bend her arm backwards to get out! 4. All of the extra padding ensures that my daughter won't have straps digging into her neck or have a hot buckle sitting against her skin in the summer. 5. The fabric is really soft and cozy. Loved it in the cold winter months! Like a blanket under her :) 6. Even in the forward facing, more upright position, my daughter can still sleep comfortably. Her head doesn't droop down, but stays leaning back or to the side against the head rest padding. 7. My daughter is in the 97% for height, and at 18 months and forward facing, she still has 3 more strap inserts above her head. This means that she will be able to stay in this car seat for a very long time!! It is much safer than a regular booster seat, so I look forward to keeping her in the Recaro as long as possible. Cons: 1. I drive a 2007 Corolla. Rear facing, it can only fit in the middle seat, but that was the case with our Graco Snugride infant seat also. Makes it hard when you need to fit an adult back there, or another car seat. 2. Because the seats of my Corolla sit at a small angle, I need to wedge a rolled up bath towel under the carseat to make it level, no big deal for us, but some people don't like it. 3. Although the fabric is soft and cozy for the winter months, it can be pretty hot in the summer. We live in TX where cars get HOT when parked outside, and my daughter can't ever seem to get cooled down while sitting in this seat. Even with the air conditioning blowing full blast right on her for a half hour, her back was still soaked in sweat. I ended up sewing a cotton cover for summer months that has helped a little bit. 4. Fabric does not wash easily. My little one shook all the milk out of her sippy cup right between her legs on a long trip. The milk dried and the fabric got crunchy and hard. The washing instructions reccomend hand wash only. The nature of the fabric is to be water resistant, and it was very difficult to get it truely clean after the spill. Wish I could have just popped it into the wash machine like other seats can. We got a great deal on this seat by buying a floor model from a local baby store. If you really want a great, SAFE, car seat, I would consider this one!

Love it! Best feature is ease of harness adjustment!,
This review is from: Recaro Como G2 Child Safety Convertible Car Seat, Crimson (Baby Product)
My 7-month old has used this seat since around 2 months of age. I love the fact that he will be able to use it for years. It reclines enough so he didn't have to struggle to hold his head up.My favorite feature is the strap-toggle. In most car seats, in order to adjust the straps, you have to pull them out the back. That's a pain if you have a little car. This has a pull and button on the front between the legs that makes it really easy - you push the button to release the lock and can make the straps more lose, then you pull the cord to make it tight. It's WONDERFUL especially since it's cold one day and hot the next and coats make baby a little thicker!! There is lots of padding that can come out as your child grows. The fabric is REALLY soft. The only con stems mainly from my vehicle choice - not the seat. I have an SUV and the back seats tilt a little bit. It makes it a little more difficult to lift my son into the seat without hitting his head on the door frame. We've managed though! Baby #2 is due in September and we'll definitely be getting another!

My only gripe is the amount of space the seat takes up when in a rear facing position. In our small suv there is barely room for a front passenger. Everything else about the seat is fantastic. Very easy to use.

THIS SEAT IS ALMOST PERFECT. THE ONLY THING IT IS MISSING IS A CUP HOLDER. IT SITS UP HIGH (MY 10 MONTH OLD CAN LOOK OUT THE WINDOW!), IT'S COZY, SOFT, STRAPS NEVER GET TANGLED, AND RECLINES PERFECTLY. BIG BONUS IS IT'S CERTIFIED TO GO ON AIRPLANES! GREAT BUY!

My wife and were in the market of buying a convertible seat to last until booster. I wished we would have found this seat when he was an infant! This seat is so rugged, it is like a racing seat for children. I call it a racing seat, because of it seems of the same design you would find in race cars (barring it is plastic instead of aluminium). The seat is a little bigger than you may expect and a little heavier, but that's because this seat is the real deal - You can tell that in the worst side impact accident the child will be WELL protected...The child and seat become "attached" to the car. When we were shopping for seats we weren't going to let price be a factor, we wanted the best, safest seat available. We were about to buy a $300 Britax because of their great reputation. Then my wife saw Recaro being the seeming gold standard in Europe. So we continued to shop and compare and settled on Recaro, we got this seat for $180. I was immediately impressed when we took it out of the box. We have been using it now for a couple months and I think it is great and gives me good piece of mind. It isn't anymore difficult to install than other seats, actually I think the 5 point is the easiest I have used, and ensures you can really make your child properly snug in the seat. Like I said the only regret I have is that we didn't find this sooner. Must buy!

I absolutely LOVE this car seat. My boyfriend was set on having a safe but "cool" car seat for our daughter to ride in while she is with him in his vehicle. He showed me the Recaro seats and I was floored! I surprised him with it for his birthday and we couldn't be happier with it. It is so soft and My daughter who is 7 months old LOVES to ride in it! Easy to install and very stylish. Great product!

Amazon really give me a better price compared to Malaysia, almost double the price. I have survey almost every brand of car seat but once I see RECARO, i know this is the best car seat for my daughter. Why do you need to buy more than one car seat when this can just use until your kids 6 years old. My wife love it, I love it and most important my daughter love it. Fit together with my Audi A4!
