5.0 out of 5 stars Good seat for a larger car, November 25, 2009
After doing a lot of research on different car seats, I chose to get the Recaro Signo G2 for our five month old. Due to our work schedules, we need two car seats for my husband's and my cars. I chose to get the Recaro first because of the additional safety features, and I wanted to see if it fit in both cars. I knew it would fit into my husband's four door 2009 Chevy Silverado truck, and it did. It is a wonderful car seat for his truck, and we can actually fit two adults sitting on either side with a center rear-facing installation. I love everything about it.

Unfortunately, we did not have as much luck fitting it into my 2007 four door Honda Civic. While it fit perfectly into my car, it turned out to be too tall with a proper center rear-facing installation. For one, it was easy to bump the baby's head on the ceiling of the car. More importantly, it partially obstructed my view in my rear view mirror. (I am 5'7" and my husband is 6'2", and both of us had the same problem). While I could 'mostly' see out of my rear window with the car seat, I do not find any obstruction an option with my baby in the car. As a result, I chose to get a Sunshine Kids Radian 65 as it is better suited for my smaller car.

5.0 out of 5 stars Recaro Signo G2 carseat, December 3, 2009

I have made three outstanding purchases for my baby and this is one of them! The first and only car seat I had purchased for my baby was the Peg Perego car seat which we loved!!! It rated high in safety and was easy to use and very durable! I found myself disappointed that they did not make convertible seats and I was unsure of whether the next seat we would like as much as the Perego. But this is a GREAT carseat! My son loves it. He used to cry when we would first put him in his car seats, this one he has not fussed once in! It sits fairly high so if you have a very compact car, you may want to review the measurements. I have an Accord and it fits, but snuggly. It is plush, soft, classy looking. It is very sturdy and nothing about this seat is cheap. I have it rear facing at the moment, but in a month or two it will be turned forward facing. The seats are very soft and comfortable for the baby. I wish my car's seats were this comfortable. There is not one regret yet buying this seat!! I would recommend it 100%.

4.0 out of 5 stars Awesome, April 18, 2010
What first struck me about the Recaro Singo G2 was its overall level of quality compared to brands like Britax and Sunshine kids, which for the most part are often represented at higher price points. Because the Recaro Singo G2 is of higher build and is at or below the price level of its competitors, it naturally is the best value. Honestly, the seat is so much better than the Britax and Sunshine Kids offerings that I still would have bought it if it was more expensive. For a seat that you can find on Amazon for $230 give or take, it should not even require much thought. The Singo looks and feels like a $500 seat in comparison to its competition.

Features such as the knob controlled adjustment for the headrest and harness, the latch system, and the actual harness are all very well thought out. The horizontal connection on the harness isn't this big obtrusive piece that covers the entire surface area of a child's chest and its easy to unlatch. The angle of the harness threatens neither to decapitate or fall of my child's shoulders. The latch system (to your car's seat) makes install very easy. Generous padding provides a child comfort. All in all, the seat's design allows it to fit children within normal size limits like a glove; I feel like the seat was custom made for my child.

As great as the Singo's features are, what I love most is that none of them were added at the expense of safety. This seat is designed to be safe, and every feature is designed to aid this function. I think it's about a close as you can get to design perfection, where form and function blend seamlessly together. Make no mistake, the seat is large but even the seat's relatively large size is indicative of its ability to protect your child.

Is this seat large? Yes.

Will it require a little more effort getting your child into the seat when its placed rear facing and in a car with narrow door frames or a low roof? Yes.

As uncomfortable as climbing into a NASCAR may look the payoff once inside is worth the extra effort; same goes for this seat.

The only real drawback for this seat that has been mentioned by many is the leg room (or lack of) it provides in the rear facing configuration. If you do have children with longer legs, they will need to be placed front facing earlier than you might like or forced to sit with their legs crossed. This is the one area that keeps the Singo G2 from receiving a perfect rating.

All in all, this seat is a remarkable value, is of the highest build quality, and has few drawbacks. Take a serious look at the Britax line and compare the two seats' chassis, which one is sturdier? Take a look at the Sunshine Kids Radian and compare side impact protection, head support, and ease of installation, which one excels in each area?

To sum it up, the Singo G2 is the only seat that makes me wish I could sit in it.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Best..., March 26, 2010

I bought this seat blindly (could not find it near me to test it) solely based on reviews of others and my inspection of other car seats. When doing the feel test with most car seats (including Britax)they all felt cheap, plastic'ky', and uncomfortable. This one does not! Wow!! This seat is so sturdy! The comfort level of it is the best out there too. My baby still hates being in car seats (he just hates any type of confinement), but I have peace of mind that my precious cargo is riding in the highest of safety and luxury.

Also, I have a 2006 Nissan Murano and have absolutely no problems getting him in and out of the seat. In fact, the other day I received high praise from my wife for putting our 13 month old in the seat while he was dead asleep without waking him. We have him front facing on the passenger-back seat side. He weighs 21.5 pounds.

Could not be happier with this purchase! Thank you Recaro...

5.0 out of 5 stars Almost Perfect, November 4, 2009
The cover is like velvet. The SIP headrest keeps my 6-month-old's head from flopping side-to-side when he sleeps. The harness adjustment process takes maybe 1 or 2 minutes, tops; it's so easy that I was convinced that I'd missed a step and reread the instructions!

If you have a small, 2-door car (Sunfire) like I do, I would reconsider this car seat. The only con, for me, is the size: I cannot fit him into it without one of us bumping a window, the seat, etc. It creates a blindspot on my right if I install it behind the passenger seat, and obstructs the view over my shoulder in the center.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great seat overall, but it is HUGE and heavy, October 27, 2010
We did a ton of research and went for this seat because it seemed to be about as good as it gets as far as safety (just as all the other reviewers have mentioned) and we like that it has a little more side impact protection than some of the 5 pt. harnesses for older/larger children.

Now that we've had it almost a year, here is what we love about it:
-easy to install (though kinda heavy, but once you get it into the car it's a snap)
-gets a really snug fit, no wiggling like the Evenflo and Britax seats we've owned
-incredibly soft, plush and comfy (my child agrees)
-super easy to make adjustments to the straps, harness height, etc. without de-installing anything or taking the cover off or any of the other nonsensical obstacles that some car seats have to making adjustments

Overall it's incredibly well designed.

The only drawback is how heavy and enormous it is. There is no way it would ever work in our Civic (we started to try it out just for kicks and when we saw what a tight fit it was through the back door, we didn't even bother forcing it all the way into the backseat).

We use it in a minivan and it is so tall it creates a blind spot for me when it's on the passenger side in the second row, and I have to be extra careful when looking behind me to look around and past it when changing lanes. If I put it in the middle seat, it's even worse, I cannot see out the rear window b/c it blocks the bottom half of the view. I have considered moving it to the driver's side, which might be better, but b/c we have two car seats and I have to still buckle the younger child's straps for her, she is on the 2nd row driver's side.

I haven't really noticed the problem with the straps twisting much, but I don't buckle it b/c my child is 6 and buckles his own. Though come to think of it, he has mentioned once or twice about having to unbuckle and untwist.

This seat is great for the way we use it, but it's also so heavy I'd never send it on a playdate expecting another parent to manage it. We also have two Safety 1st Go Hybrid seats for our smaller car and for travel and I'd be more likely to hand off that one in such a situation.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great seat, June 6, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
My wife and I purchased this seat for our 1 year old son. We did some research into the different safety standards of convertible car seats for children and found that this seat has the best ratings. America only sets it's crash test standards at 30 mph. England at 35mph and Germany has front and side impact collision tests at 45 mph. This seat got the highest marks for safety in all 3 countries. The seat is very well built from its plush material to the sturdy frame. It is easily installed and we have had no trouble with the shoulder straps twisting at all. The best feature is you do not have to re-thread the shoulder straps as your child grows. There are 2 knobs on the top of the car seat that adjusts the head and side impact wings. The seat is very cushiony and is set up so that you can remove cushions as your child begins to fill out the seat. The best part of the seat is the fact that my son no longer fights us when he gets put into it. He doesn't cry anymore on long trips like he did in his old car seat either. He SLEEPS! The peace and quite now was worth every dollar we paid. He loves his new seat. It sits elevated on its base so I would not recommend it if you have a compact car or a coupe as your childs head will probably come close to touching the roof. It is a large seat, but for larger vehicles it will fit fine. With the taller base it is easy for your child to see out of the windows instead of at just the seat. It would have gotten 5 stars if not for the size. This seat is not for everyone but if they made it to fit adults I would own one and take it with me everywhere just so I would have a comfy place to sit all the time

We got this seat for our 2 month old and it works great! it looks so comfy with all the padding. It was a little hard to install for us because we live in japan and the cars don't have all the saftey latches like the US ones have and you can't read the car instructions because its in japanese but we eventually figured it out and it works great. The back is high so when its in the rear facing way in the begging of life its really hard to reach back and touch your baby, put the pacifier in her mouth, etc. if its in the middle but we make it work because to use it is soo much safer than the graco one we did have. We also love that this works for MANY ages and years and positions so we don't have to keep buying car seats if we knew this was good for as little as 5 lbs. we would have only bought this one to start with. The pink color is pretty and people (other mothers) love it and the material is soo soft. when you read the directions it does say to cover the car seat while not in use because it will get hot from the sun and they are not lieing! make sure you cover it. we just use a simple receiving blanket we keep in the car to throw it over to block the sun from heating up the parts she touches and it works.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very nice car seat, April 14, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I really like this seat. I have only used it for three weeks so far, but it is very sturdy and eaasy to install. I installed it in a Dodge Nitro. The only problem I have is that the seat is very high, and I have to manuver to put my son on the seat without hitting his head with the frame of the door. I don't think it is a problem with the seat per se, but you may have some trouble with it, depending on the type of car you drive. The feature I like the most is the 'infinity head rest'. You can adjust it very easily by turning the knob as your kid grows up.
The package was delivered on time and in perfect condition.

5.0 out of 5 stars LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE IT!!!, February 13, 2010
First off this seat looks so comfortable I wish I could sit in it! My son easily falls asleep in it. Great detailed installation instruction manual. Fits great maybe alittle big but still great in our VW Rabbit 2006. I love the fact that a seat company that manufacturers racing seats has made my baby's car seat! I don't think a safer car seat is out there! And trust me I did my research!!! Who would be a better car seat maker than one that perfects racing seats who crash daily. I love this seat, I love this company and I've never heard one negative crash test!
