4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Christmas story with James Earl Jones as Santa
This is a fun Christmas tape for fans of Recess. I think the last story featuring James Earl Jones as Santa was quite touching and funny. At least one other reviewer, who said there was "no Christmas content" on the tape, must not have actually watched it. I guess technically some of the material comes from the episodes they have produced but unless your...

2.0 out of 5 stars What a disappointment
I wish I had read everyone elses' reviews before buying this. I saw the dvd out and was so excited about getting it for Christmas. As soon as it started I knew it was going to be "flashbacks" of episodes that were already on TV. And none of them had anything to do with Christmas. The only bonus on the DVD was the reports done by Gus, Spenelli and Mickey (I love...

3.0 out of 5 stars Don't be fooled, November 16, 2001
By
The Recess christmas "movie" is an enjoyable holiday treat, although...don't be fooled as I was when I got the video expecting to see an all-new christmas adventure with these great kids...most of the stories in this "movie" are old television episodes of the "recess" series already being shown on televison, bookended with the two teachers and the principal stuck in the snow at christmas time and told through flashbacks. Again, an enjoyable video but not entirely a "christmas" movie and hardly any of it is new.

1.0 out of 5 stars Shame on you Disney, December 2, 2001

Disney, shame on you . There is absolutely nothing new about this rip-off. It is comprised of old TV reruns in a new Christmas box. The stories are regular episodes with absolutely NO Christmas content. This is plain and simple deception by a company who is mach better than this.

When Prickly, Finster and Miss Grotke gets stuck in the snow during the winter, they recalled how the kids changed their lives for the better. The guest voices by Dick Clark, James Earl Jones and the late Robert Goulet were a treat. 3.0 out of 5 stars Want to ruin Christmas for your 5 year old ???, June 22, 2003
By A Customer
Then make your children watch this movie . The last segment of this movie will forever alter your child's perception of Santa's existence . If you want to treasure the last few years of your child's innocence ,then protect them from watching Recess Christmas. I found the movie entertaining , but the way they presented the doubt about Santa really caused problems for my 5 year old.... We watched the movie last night and today my 5 year old is still asking questions. Should have carried a warning for parents.

1.0 out of 5 stars Buy another Recess movie, December 19, 2008

Although we normally love the characters and stories this is an awful movie. The number one thing all parents need to know is mentioned in the official review above. There is a very STRONG message that there is no Santa. If your child believes in Santa do not watch this movie. There is a very subtle suggestion that Santa is real at the very very end. The actual majority of the movie is on non-Christmas short episodes tied together loosely by having the teachers and principle remember things about the kids while stranded in a car stuck in a snow drift. Overall poor quality movie and I am not sure who the target audience would be. Those who believe in Santa will be mortified and those who don't will be bored.

"Recess-School's Out" was really pretty awesome, & although I never saw the Christmas version, I'll bet that it was also very charming, in a sense.-Earl
