Why Do Some Companies Thrive In A Recession, While Others Die? Victor Cheng, a former McKinsey consultant and marketing expert for the Fox Business Television Network, led a major research project to find the answer to this provocative question. After analyzing 12 US recessions spanning 136 years, this research uncovered dozens of startup companies that thrived during the economic chaos of their day. Discover how in the midst of a major recession Federal Express, Disney, Hewlett-Packard, UPS, Coors, and others opened their doors as one- and two-person businesses-and grew to become Fortune 500 giants. Why did these businesses prosper, while thousands of others failed? What made the difference? Unintentionally, they all followed the same winning "formula"-four simple rules that allowed them to survive and thrive, while others died. Discover these timeless rules in The Recession-Proof Business and follow in the footsteps of the greatest recession success stories of all time.

I read this book in 2 days.

It is refreshing to have someone with the business expertise Victor has (Stanford MBA and former McKinsey consultant), show how to thrive in a recession and have your business come out in a much stronger position in the marketplace.

Victor shows you what the most successful companies have done in recessions dating back over 100 years, what their strategies are and how to immediately apply them to your business.

If you have a business... you would be a fool not to click the BUY NOW button and have it in your hands in the next 2 days!

5.0 out of 5 stars Finally proven business strategies you can use book during this recession, August 29, 2009

This review is from: The Recession-Proof Business: Lessons from the Greatest Recession Success Stories of All Time (Paperback)
This book proves beyond a shadow of a doubt that a business can prosper during this recessionary period. Among all the negative opinions and naysayers today, comes this fascinating book with a positive attitude and positive solutions.

Victor offers practical business expertise, drawing from his own experience of having two degrees from Stanford and being former McKinsey consultant to small business owners.

He uses real and applicable examples of businesses that started during recessions, delineating the principles that made them successful, so we can emulate them today. These numerous case studies are easy to follow and understand, and can be implemented in virtually any small business immediately.

I highly recommend this book to anyone who wants to succeed in business during this recession.

5.0 out of 5 stars Victor Cheng is a recession genius, June 17, 2009
This review is from: The Recession-Proof Business: Lessons from the Greatest Recession Success Stories of All Time (Paperback)
Victor Cheng has given presentations on the study that formed the basis for this book. After hearing his comments I read the book for more details, adn found it detailed yet easy to digest. His examples are cogent to our times, even though some of them occurred decades ago.

The important point I want to make is that Victor has identified the eternal principles that allow businesses to thrive and grow during challenging times. If you pay attention you can put these practices into use immediately no matter what the size of your enterprise, from a major firm to a one-person shop.

Like the businesses he studies, I encourage the reader to put aside his or her preconceptions and open themselves to an enjoyable read that may change their fortunes.
