Book Description

February 1, 2002
Kriya Yoga is a discipline which leads to Self-Realization through pranayama and meditation upon the Holy Cosmic Sound, Om. Babaji, the ageless saint dwelling in the remote regions of the Himalayas, introduced Kriya Yoga to our age through a lineage that includes Lahiri Mahasaya, Sri Yukteswar, Paramahansa Yogananda and many others. A Recipe for Bliss bridges the esoteric and the everyday, and draws you to the place that has no inside and no outside. It will open the doors of your perception to a new and authentic way to experience your True Self.

About the Author

Carl Schmidt studied Zen Buddhism and Eastern philosophy in Japan where he began a lifelong practice of meditation. He has also traveled throughout Northern India in search of spiritual awakening. In 1978 a sudden, unexpected experience changed his life in a dramatic way. He was drawn up and out of his body with great force, and immediately found himself standing face to face with Paramahansa Yogananda and Jesus. In this singular moment he discovered the utterly transcendent nature of all life. Carl has also written and performed music for meditations and recorded two albums, Delight and Mystical Voyager. He lives with his wife and family in Sedona, Arizona.

5.0 out of 5 stars What "A Recipe For Bliss" means to me., October 7, 2003

This review is from: A Recipe for Bliss: Kriya Yoga for a New Millennium (Paperback)
The very fruit of Carl Schmidt's first on-line Kriya Yoga Class, "A Recipe for Bliss" is brilliant in both detailed instruction and pure delivery streaming from a conscientious, warm, gentle, kind and loving heart. The book is clear and precise as well as straight forward and honest. Through the practice of Kriya Yoga techniques as presented via this special teacher, Carl Schmidt, our interior, personal make-up surfaces and It becomes painfully evident that most of us are caught up in the world of illusion or maya. Carl brings to light a direct and true approach to finding bliss or "the peace that passeth understanding" with clarity and timeless expertise which allows the student a means to expand their consciousness and fulfill the bottom line which is to "be in this world but not of it." Additionally, Carl makes available, to any and everyone with enough committment to follow the practice of Kriya Yoga, a rare opportunity to discover and practice living in bliss. This opens a new way of being, one we are all struggling to find, which blossoms and flowers as we apply the teachings. Learning these practices or techniques has made living a very different Journey, one in which I can be consciously aware of my purpose here and now. I feel truly blessed to have been part of this instruction and am so grateful for Carl's willingness to share and open the pathway of Kriya Yoga . I would and do recommend this as a book to travel and grow with. "A Recipe for Bliss" will always be on my bedside table for easy and ready accessibility. Kindests Regards, Sylvia
