What "A Recipe For Bliss" means to me.,
By Sylvia (Mena, AR United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: A Recipe for Bliss: Kriya Yoga for a New Millennium (Paperback)
The very fruit of Carl Schmidt's first on-line Kriya Yoga Class, "A Recipe for Bliss" is brilliant in both detailed instruction and pure delivery streaming from a conscientious, warm, gentle, kind and loving heart. The book is clear and precise as well as straight forward and honest. Through the practice of Kriya Yoga techniques as presented via this special teacher, Carl Schmidt, our interior, personal make-up surfaces and It becomes painfully evident that most of us are caught up in the world of illusion or maya. Carl brings to light a direct and true approach to finding bliss or "the peace that passeth understanding" with clarity and timeless expertise which allows the student a means to expand their consciousness and fulfill the bottom line which is to "be in this world but not of it." Additionally, Carl makes available, to any and everyone with enough committment to follow the practice of Kriya Yoga, a rare opportunity to discover and practice living in bliss. This opens a new way of being, one we are all struggling to find, which blossoms and flowers as we apply the teachings. Learning these practices or techniques has made living a very different Journey, one in which I can be consciously aware of my purpose here and now. I feel truly blessed to have been part of this instruction and am so grateful for Carl's willingness to share and open the pathway of Kriya Yoga . I would and do recommend this as a book to travel and grow with. "A Recipe for Bliss" will always be on my bedside table for easy and ready accessibility. Kindests Regards, Sylvia

An excellent synthesis,

There are really no "cookbooks" for Yoga, but this is a wonderful companion for those learning to prepare that most delicious of nourishments with or without skilled help. Strictly speaking Kriya Yoga is not found among the classical yoga systems. The four components of the fundamental Mahayoga are Hathayoga, Mantrayoga, Layayoga and Rajayoga. The tantras list twelve subsystems, none of which is named Kriyayoga. "Kriya" simply means "technique" and refers to any controlled action of mind and/or body. The beautiful kriyas taught by Paramahansa Yogananda are classified as Layayoga kriyas in the principal traditions. But variances like this are found throughout the universe of yoga and have no bearing on the holy science itself. Any sincere seeker will find Carl Schmidt's "Recipe For Bliss" immensely helpful. It brings together precious insights from Zen Buddhism, Advaita Vedanta and Kabbala in addition to its core subject matter. With them the goal of Laya - dissolving and merging into God - is within the reach of all.

Highly recommended,

A RECIPE FOR BLISS is just that. It is a set of simple yet effective techniques. That is not all that is required on your journey, however. Each individual needs to evaluate and come to an understanding of his own on their path through introspection so that they can obtain the goal of ego dissolution and union with God. I am surprised to see that there were a couple of low ratings for this book and it does beg the question what their true motivations were. Carl Schmidt does not claim that there is one way, in fact, he states in his writings that there are several paths up the mountain, but once the top is reached, the view is the same. He provides a technique for one of those roads and lets the aspirant test drive it. He kindly avails himself to seekers by offering a free class on the hOMe Foundation website. As with any technique, it is up to the individual to do the work and this is probably the key ingredient, not technique per se. This book is definitely worth reading and the classes are definitely worth taking if you are searching for a way to connect to your origins. Thank you for sharing your gift Carl.

A soul stirring book filled with timeless Truth.....,
By
This review is from: A Recipe for Bliss: Kriya Yoga for a New Millennium (Paperback)
"A Recipe for Bliss" by Carl Schmidt is filled with the author's experiences in spirituality. It revels his spiritual achievements with emphasis on Zen Buddhism, Kriya Yoga and the Hong-Sau technique of meditation.
This book contains timeless wisdom which shows the reader that the main purpose of life is to seek God and give love to all unconditionally. It inspires the reader to persevere in his/her meditation and NOT to lose hope in life. People suffering from depression will find this book filled with joy and endless love, and this writings will give them new hope and understanding. Lastly I would NOT recommend this book to souls who would not appreciate spiritual Truths. The saying "Do not cast pearls to swines" holds true in the spiritual path. Those readers who gave a low rating for this book had failed to appreciate its timeless Truths of wisdom. Carl Schmidt's writings are filled with pure love and sincere honesty throughout the pages and it is quite painful to read the unwanted negative reviews!

A Recipe for Bliss and A Wonderful Contribution,
By An Anonymous Student of the True Occult and p... (Melbourne , VIC . AUST.) - See all my reviews
This review is from: A Recipe for Bliss: Kriya Yoga for a New Millennium (Paperback)
This book is of true import and of tremendous value to the true practicing student, who The Master is trying to reach.Particularily those who by karmic circumstances:1/. do not yet hear His call(except perhaps on inner levels, and out of reach of their ego's consciousness)and,2/. all those dear to the Masters, but cannot be of authentic Kriya linage yet have earned the right for assistance in this manner.Carl has written this book in a clear and concise manner, that when earnestly applied by the true student (overshadowed and taught by The Master) brings tremendous and remarkable results, which one must not attach himself to. Now any reader from an authentic Kriya Yoga linage would know that counterfeit kriya does Not bring results and even places the false teacher, who has stolen kriya, in great danger of hell.... as indicated by Lahiri Mahasay;2:116 Manusanghita,Commentaries by Lahiri Mahasay. Yet clearly from the reviews, and from all who practise the Kriyas, results are forthcoming and as mentioned above, remarkable; for a book only serves as a mirror, which the Master uses, to bring forth The Knower (through recognition) of that aspect of Self... So, Who is the real Teacher? Carl has proven himself of tremendous value to the Ascended Brothers of Light. May he thus be truely Blessed for his efforts, and for this valuable service and contribution to the enlightenment of our age. He writes in direct obediance to the heart, the voice of the silence, which is The Voice of The Master and sealed by the vision of Master Jesus and Master Yogananda from whom also approval is granted;to be (one instrument of many) for the Heavenly Father to reach and bring H-OM-E as many as would come and as many as would believe. It is nonbelief that breeds ignorance and it is ignorance that begets nonbelief. This is,afterall, mankinds worst sin.Be free from it. A real heart opener,A real eye opener ,a must read! |
