Recipe for Enjoyment!,

This review is from: Recipe for Murder: Cozy Crumb Mystery Series #1 (Heartsong Presents Mysteries #5) (Mass Market Paperback)
Pricilla Crumb has a problem. She's been asked by her son, Nathan, the owner of a hunting lodge in Rendezvous, Colorado, to fill in for his chef who's come down with West Nile virus. Whipping up a fabulous meal for guests at the hunting lodge isn't problematic for the culinary-gifted widow. But trying to explain why one of them dropped dead after sampling one of her salmon-filled tartlets proves to be a little more challenging. After a hurried autopsy, the results come back. The good news is that it wasn't Pricilla's cooking that killed Charles Woodruff. The bad news is that he was definitely murdered - and a killer may still be lurking among the remaining guests at the lodge. To add to the confusion, Pricilla's long-time friend Max may want more than just friendship - something that Pricilla isn't sure she's comfortable with. However, romance does seem to be blooming between Trisha, Max's daughter, and Nathan. That is until Nathan is suspected of murder!I truly enjoyed this fun-filled mystery. I especially liked Pricilla's plan to coax a confession from several suspects using her fabulous homemade beef stew. Forget passé police interrogation techniques - Pricilla's cuisine reigns supreme! Lisa Harris has mixed together just the right ingredients in "Recipe for Murder." She blends a heaping helping of mystery, an overflowing cup of romance, a generous pinch of humor and creates a charming novel that readers will love.

Yes, its a christian book - what do you expect when the author is a christian missionary in South Africa? She doesn't hit you over the head with her Christianity, and its woven nicely into an extremely interesting tale of murder and love affairs. The people writing bad reviews for this book are just mad because they didn't do their homework before buying.

This was an interesting book with lots of twists and turns in the plot. I liked the Christian influence in the story line and the hunting lodge setting. I would like to read more cozy mysteries like this one.

I enjoyed reading this book one afternoon (read the whole thing in 3 hours). The characters, setting, etc. were fun and interesting. Loved the author's writing-style and the progression of the story line. A great cozy mystery laced with a bit of Christianity...a nice combination!

Did you know that Heartsong books is all about christian publishing? Well neither did I till I received & read 2 of them. Amazon does have them listed with religious or christian in their review section, as I found out later.I often 'grab' 4 for 3 books without any review...it's worked okay before, now I will be more careful before hitting 'send' button. I gave it 2 stars not because of the religious stuff, but the plot was really thin. A death occurs & our heroine jumps into action...she has a list with just about everybody's name aside from herself & family members as suspects, oh please!! The really worst part is she can't decide which famous detective to emulate, so she tries Jessica, Colombo and Sherlock! Bypass this one & watch out for Heartsong :-(

Heartsong is a Christian Publishing company, and is not listed by Amazon as such. I do not want to be preached to, and I do not want to read Christian books. I am very disappointed in Amazon for not warning the public about this being a Christian publishing company, and both of these books (I ordered two) will go into my used book bag unread, except for a few pages.
