5.0 out of 5 stars A great book to eat your way to good health.

I should have guessed with the work "Gourmet" that these recipes would be more on the difficult side. I was hoping for more everyday meals. So I was not impressed.

Molly Siple's cookbook Recipes for Change focuses on eating your way towards good health during perimenopause and menopause. Ms. Siple and Ms. De Angelis, both nutritionists, take great care and expertise in writing this manual. Not only are the recipes delicious, they contain ingredients to stop many of the bothersome complaints of perimenopause and menopause. Both authors have a great understnading for women's desires to treat their complaints naturally and through good food choices. They work to show us how specific foods will help with such problems as insomnia and anxiety. This book has been featured in my online perimenopause/menopause support group HotFlash!. Many of my memebers have tried their recipes and love them, try the Sunflower seed muffins.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Life Changing Book, February 12, 2001
By A Customer
I received this book as a gift about 2 years ago when I had just turned 50. I had moderate PMS and perimenopause and as of yet at age 52 have not entered menopause yet. This has been a fabulous book for me preparing me for those years to come, not to mention it has helped me to stabalize my roller coaster blood sugar. I received this book right about the time I gave up on traditional medicene for treating my Fibromyalgia and went to an acupuncturitst and alternative medicene. He put me on a whole foods diet and this book really saved me with loads of terrific and delicious recipes. The authors also give such good support. I feed my husband and sons these recipes and we all enjoy them. I recommend this to all who are serious about their health. Whole foods is really the answer to most of our problems.

Don't let the title fool you. You do not have to be experiencing Menopause to get these great recipes. The information they provide is excellent. I use this as my primary recipe book and I have a long way before I hit menopause

5.0 out of 5 stars Best natural foods cookbook I own!, April 10, 2006
This review is from: Recipes for Change: Gourmet Wholefood Cooking for Health and Vitality and Vitality at Menopause (Hardcover)
I am a natural foods/vegetarian cookbook junkie, and this is my alltime favorite (although please note it is not vegetarian, but is vegetarian friendly).

Everything I have made from this book has been delicious. The difference between this book and many others I own is that I actually use the recipes. The recipes are easy to follow and the ingredients are not too strange, exotic or expensive. Focus is on fresh foods, produce, healthy fats.

My copy (paperback) fell apart, so I recently replaced it with a hardcover version. A shame it is out of print -- I would recommend purchasing a hardcover copy as the paperback is not very sturdy.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great recipes; very instructive, September 14, 1998

This review is from: Recipes for Change: Gourmet Wholefood Cooking for Health and Vitality and Vitality at Menopause (Hardcover)
I briefly examined this book before I gave it as a gift. I was very impressed with the depth of knowledge the authors have about individual nutrients and how to cook for health. I am a cookbook collector and a self-declared health nut, so it takes a lot to impress me. Excellent book, excellent nutritional information and great recipes. A great choice for any person interested in supporting their own or their family's health.

5.0 out of 5 stars ReBooting for Menopause, August 21, 1999
By A Customer
This recipe book rejuvinated my interest in eating healthy foods. Note: I did not say health foods. There is a difference. Being a '60's child, I did all the natural/health food routine which served me well over the years. This recipe book adds to that healthy foundation. For all women coming into their wisened (this is a word!) years.

4.0 out of 5 stars A Keeper. Change your food. Change your life., June 27, 2011

This review is from: Recipes for Change: Gourmet Wholefood Cooking for Health and Vitality and Vitality at Menopause (Hardcover)
This is my favorite cook book. After lots of research when I experienced my first peri-menapause symptoms, I found this cookbook at my local library. It taught me how to revamp my eating choices and introduced me to a new group of foods. This, I found, was invaluable. Even better, the book offered alternate ingredient choices with each recipe and why it was healthful. Like most new information, it is offered to give us choices and help us learn. Ultimately, it turned me on to a new eating lifestyle from which I never turned back. Not only did I purchase my own copy, frequently I've given it as a gift to friends and relatives. Recipes are delicious for folks of all ages and lifestyles. Just plain good food. The soup recipes are my favorites. Try a copy from your local library before you buy. You'l be convinced, too. 5.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely Delicious!, December 6, 2011
I was expecting the recipes to be blah like they are in so many cookbooks, but they are FANTASTIC! I got this book from the library, but I've ordered my own copy because it's so impressive. The menopause info is helpful, as I'm in the midst of that now, but the recipes are really where it's at in this book. Definitely a keeper!
