Editorial Reviews

Review

"Leva has turned his longtime love of hosting celebrations into a glamorous party guide book that he hopes will inspire others, especially those intimidated by the festive process.  Written with longtime friend, textile designer Nancy Parker, Recipes for Parties features 10 different affairs, from a cocktail party at dusk to a family lunch... The book's decor, a mix of price points ranging from Pottery Barn to West Elm, was simple. Leva used test tube bottles from kids' chemistry sets for flower vases, and rock salt to display hors d'oeuvres.  He stressed that creative doesn't mean expensive." ~Boston Herald.com

"Michael Leva and Nancy Parker pull together incredible - and doable - recipes and ideas for entertaining in their new book Recipes for Parties." ~Tory Burch blog

"Hosting will be worry-free with Recipes for Parties by Michael Leva and Nancy Parker as your guide.  Their new book has more than just menus - you'll find suggestions for flowers, invitations and decor. The simple recipes will make you look like a prime-time entertaining guru!" ~Connecticut Cottages & Gardens

Too preppy to be hipsters, apparently yuppies still exist! And zinnias, amaranth, dahlias and giant castor beans from the cutting garden ARE an inexpensive way to provide a whimsical touch! I wanted to retch. Not one recipe piqued my interest. Thank god I got it for free as I now won't feel so bad tearing out the pages and using them to pack away my precious chemistry vials that I use for vases. To quote Charles Brown: good grief!

I was not impressed with this book. I entertain a lot and this book was nothing special. Recipes were not something I would use. Buy Entertaining with Style instead - it's much better.

Pretentious book about entertaining. Got nothing out of it, except as a coaster on my coffee table for my coffee mug.

I ordered this cheaper on Amazon than I had seen it on any other website. It's an old New York library book which adds a lot of charm to it. The recipes and decorating tips are a lot fancier than I had expected though.
