But, I decided to give it a try. I work at home, so the only people I could really gross out are my family, and they're probably too busy to notice anyway, so I figured it wouldn't hurt to try, as long as I didn't have anything coming up where I'd have to be in public. LOL!
SO, I've been using the Tbsp. of baking soda (mixed with water) for washing scalp/hair, and a Tbsp. of apple cider vinegar (mixed with 1 cup water) as a rinse (instead of conditioner) and have been AMAZED at the results! The very first time I did it, I could tell the difference in my hair - it was so much lighter, and cleaner feeling - no waxy/oily junk coating it, making it heavy. It dried MUCH quicker, was SO much easier to comb out after my shower, and is softer than it has EVER been - and shinier too! I bet the companies that make shampoo, conditioner, etc. etc. etc. don't want anyone knowing about this fabulous secret! (But I'm telling everyone I know! LOL!) I can also let 2 days go by between washing my hair, even 3 if I want to - it stays much cleaner and less oily than it did when I used regular shampoos/conditioners.Read more ›
I must admit to be thrifty these days; throwing out my bottle of shampoo before it is finished is not in my genetic makeup. But as soon as the last drop falls from my bottle I am going to do a "no poo" test. Wikipedia describes no poo this way: "No poo" (no shampoo) is a collective term for methods of washing hair without commercial shampoo." The idea of no poo has been around for a number of years, and although Diane Kidman did not invent the idea, she sure seems to have a strong handle on how use it.
I plan to keep my copy of Hair Gone Wild close at hand, because I will be referring to it often for other hair recipes. A whole new world has just been opened up for me. Thanks Diane! I can't wait to see what you come up with next!
