5.0 out of 5 stars Another Great Selection! April 8, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
I've got Diane Kidman's previous two e-books on herbs and I'm so happy to have this one! In my quest to reduce harmful chemicals and unnecessary ingredients from our house, her first two books have been invaluable! The moisturizer recipe from 'Beauty Gone Wild' is now my go-to product, and so affordable to make! As with the first two books, this is great info well presented. It's easy to follow, using accessible ingredients. And always: a fun read with lots of chuckles! Highly recommend all three, and can hardly wait for the next!

5.0 out of 5 stars A VERY Timely and Lucky Find! May 31, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
I found this book quite by accident. I read it over and over for a few days until I made the decision to try the 'no poo' method. I was skeptical, yes my hair is 'special.' I am (was) a hair product snob as well as addict. NOW, I am a 'no poo' believer and I tell everyone about it. My routine varies depending on my hair needs and I am still experimenting. I have very long, thick curly hair and I spent a lot of time and money on it. I have given everything away and I feel free! I really need to add up my projected savings and buy myself something nice with it. Thank you so much for a helpful and interesting book, I loaned it one friend and since she has seen my results, she is anxious to get started. My next step is to try cassia. PS - The time I have saved is priceless.

5.0 out of 5 stars Quite Wonderful! March 25, 2012
By Sara
Format:Kindle Edition
After I downloaded this book I sat down at the kitchen table and read it in only a couple of hours and looooved it!!! It's easy to understand and dummies like me don't have to read and reread and rereread and rerereread and rererereread it:) The recipes aren't just outrageously elaborate which is what I need cause I'm not exactly a big money maker so a lot of the stuff is on hand or easily accessible!

When I first read this, and got to the "no poo" part, I was very skeptical. VERY. My hair is VERY thick(and long, so there's LOTS of it), a little course, and it has gotten more and more curly (as well as slightly dryer/frizzier) as I've gotten older - but would still get oily close to my scalp if I went more than a day between shampoos. And I have NEVER been able to get a comb or brush through my hair if I didn't use a generous amount of conditioner, humectant, and sometimes an additional leave-in conditioner/de-tangler/de-frizzer... and all that stuff really adds up, price-wise! (I am wife/mom in family of 4, and always on a fairly tight budget)

But, I decided to give it a try. I work at home, so the only people I could really gross out are my family, and they're probably too busy to notice anyway, so I figured it wouldn't hurt to try, as long as I didn't have anything coming up where I'd have to be in public. LOL!

SO, I've been using the Tbsp. of baking soda (mixed with water) for washing scalp/hair, and a Tbsp. of apple cider vinegar (mixed with 1 cup water) as a rinse (instead of conditioner) and have been AMAZED at the results! The very first time I did it, I could tell the difference in my hair - it was so much lighter, and cleaner feeling - no waxy/oily junk coating it, making it heavy. It dried MUCH quicker, was SO much easier to comb out after my shower, and is softer than it has EVER been - and shinier too! I bet the companies that make shampoo, conditioner, etc. etc. etc. don't want anyone knowing about this fabulous secret! (But I'm telling everyone I know! LOL!) I can also let 2 days go by between washing my hair, even 3 if I want to - it stays much cleaner and less oily than it did when I used regular shampoos/conditioners.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great intro to no poo July 2, 2012
By Breeze
Format:Kindle Edition
My hair has always been tempremental, and my skin and scalp are extremely sensitive and tend to freak out at random things, so when I read this book, I was excited about a natural way to work with my hair! Unfortunately, while the book is a great resource fo hair treatments, it would benefit from adding a bit more about starting no poo. I have hard water, which when combined with baking soda forms build up on the scalp and will not even begin to clean the hair... so the first time I went no poo after reading this book, I ended up with horribly greasy hair, totally bewildered as there was nothing in the book about it. I'm now about a week into my second attempt at no poo, after reading everything i could get my hands on, and my hair is clean! I'm using 1tbs BS to 1 cup water and the same ratio for ACV to water, washing w/ BS and ACV every other day, brushing well with a boar bristle brush every eveninng (which brings the natural oils down off of your scalp, spreading to the tips of your hair and conditioning it) and brushing in cocoa powder and corstarch to soak up excess oil. I do use the rosemary tea rinse occasionally, but have found that it doesn't work as well. Bottom line: this book is an amazing resource for natural hair treatments, but if you decide to go no poo because of it, read up on it first on the blogs, they'll give you a more rounded view, and will have lots of different aproaches so that you can find the one that works the best for your own unique hair!

5.0 out of 5 stars Very informational and Entertaining! June 7, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
I absolutely loved this book. Halfway through, I was totally convinced to go shampoo, conditioner and chemical free! I'd been buying all those "green" products in the shampoo aisle and nothing seemed to keep me happy for very long. Now that I can make everything I need myself, there is no reason to go down that aisle and be frustrated not knowing what to get anymore. Not to mention the self fulfillment that comes from making your own beauty products! Granted, its been only three weeks, but I cannot imagine ever going back and I love to tell people about it! I have now read every book by Diane and I simply can't get enough! I hope everyone likes this book as much as I did!
