Transformers has aged a lot better than many of the other cartoons from the 80s! The episodes are still very enjoyable now that I am a bit (or 20+ years - you pick) older.

Navigating the Chinese menus is a bit of a challenge, but trial and error worked fine.

These DVDs were created using some non-standard authoring tools, so skipping scenes for the credits sometimes produces odd results, like skipping back to the beginning of the first episode on the disk.

The box that the set comes in is attractive on the shelf, but the interior DVD binder sleeved-pages are cheap. Not a big deal, though.

PQ for the transfer is good, as is SQ. The volume leveling is poor, though, as the credits are sometimes noticeably quieter or louder than the episodes.

I bought this set on ebay for 42.00 from China. ($7 + $35 shipping). Unlike what the other review said, it comes with a menu translator so you know how to navigate it. Look at how much the American box sets cost. Its ridiculous. Also, why in the heck wouldn't Sony re-release them with the current popularity of the brand. I'd rather have the American sets, but I just don't have $500 to spend on old toons. This set is great.

Yeah, the menus are in Japanese (or Chinese? Sorry, I don't know either), and there are subtitles in Japanese throughout, but this was my all-time favorite cartoon as a kid, and it's been a blast to be able to watch them again. This is a must buy for anybody who is, or ever was, a fan of the Transformers.
