Another winner from Amanda Quick!,
This review is from: Reckless (Mass Market Paperback)
_Reckless_ is the captivating tale of an impetuous heroine and a hero who appears cold at times but is really a romantic at heart. Ms. Quick always delivers a unique premise and a wonderful break from the mainstream romance. _Reckless_ is no exception. She wields a tale full of romance, mystery and danger while keeping a working balance between all the elements. The result is a book that will keep you on the edge of your seat and up until the wee hours of the morning.
I love the way she always seems to tie her characters together with some sort of shared history. It gives a feeling of destiny to the books. Ms. Quick's characters are always well developed and three dimensional. The main characters in this book are some of the best! Phoebe is very admirable. Right away you like her spunk and you can identify with her love of romance. You'll also laugh uproariously at her fashion sense. Gabriel is . . . hard to explain. One moment he endears himself to your heart and the next instant you'd like to throttle him. They are not only well suited to each other but also play well off one another. The interaction is entertaining and endearing. Also, in the form of secondary characters, you have Phoebe's charming family. A group of oddly hilarious socialites who try to keep the adventurer of the family, Phoebe, under control. They don't realize that they all possess a good portion of Phoebe's impetuosity. All in all it was an excellent read, which is what I always expect from Amanda Quick.

A Quick Masterpiece,

Fabulous book! This book is a winner and has everything that makes Ms. Quick such a superb writer. Her story is gripping from the first page--a young woman arranges a clandestine meeting at midnight on a lonely road with a "knight" she has known from afar for many years, and tries to engage him in a "quest" to find a medieval manuscript and thereby track down the murderer of her dead "lover/friend". The dialogue throughout is witty and clever. The characters leap to life. It is a wonderful love story which does not miss a beat. HIGHLY recommended.

If only there were more like these...,
This review is from: Reckless (Mass Market Paperback)
Au contraire, "Reckless," is by far one of Amanda Quick's better novels. While she has gained a large following in the past years, it is her earlier novels like "Reckless," which inspires me to try her newer books, which, by the way always disappoint me. Who was it that praised quality versus quantity? Well, whoever said it, kudos! Quick aka JAK seems to churn out book after book, but her newer releases have just lost the lustre of her old books. At least "Reckless" centers around something different than mystic jewels and ancient arts. Jeez, the same theme gets boring after a while. On the other hand, "Reckless," deals with a defiant lady determined to make her own way in society. Although this is not a new theme, the premise of ancient Arthurian legends is a breath of fresh air. Sigh, if only there were more books like this one...

Reckless is 'fascinating'!!,

This review is from: Reckless (Mass Market Paperback)
I loved Reckless!! Phoebe, like most of Quick's heroines, is considered a spinster and this time handicapped, yet she is fiesty, brave, daring and downright comical. Phoebe enlist the assistance of Gabriel, a man she admires and considers to be the epitomy of a 'knight in shining armour', to locate a valuable book and possibly the killer of her fiance. Phoebe doesn't know that Gabriel has secrets of his own and engages in this outrageous request of hers only because his secrets are entwined with her quest for justice. Phoebe's antics and quest for justice frustrates both Gabriel and her family, whom both agree that Phoebe needs a 'firm hand to control her impulsive behavior'. Which proves to be IMPOSSIBLE!! If you have never read an Amanda Quick novel before, begin with Reckless, which has proven to be my favorite by Quick. I'm a new reader of Quick's, although I own every title she has written. Like most romance readers, I have my favorites and I am leary to dive into unfamiliar territory, but when reading Quick, I realized I had dived into a writer with a passion for life! I am an avid fan of historicals; history is my life, intrique and battles, are in my blood. But Quick's novels are of a slower pace and sometimes I need a slower pace to relax and unwind from the busy life of teaching, mothering, homeschooling, soccer mom (whom travels (out of state) with her son's select soccer team and all the other day to day stressful activities. Slower than what I'm used to, but never boring. Amanda Quick is one of my favorites!!

This Book Is Worth Ten Stars,

This review is from: Reckless (Mass Market Paperback)
I absolutely loved this book. *Reckless* is the story of two people who were meant for each other and are lucky enough to find their soul mate. Pheobe is spunky and defies the rules. Wylde is the perfect ancore for her, but is the man to take her on her grandest andventure. The characters were fabulously three demensional and the plot was unique and exciting. The mystery was breathtaking and the side plots were detailed enough to hold you attention but weren't so complicated that it was hard to keep up with. All in all, *Reckless* is my favorite book so far by Amanda Quick and I suggest this book to anyone with a pulse.

Reckless - as in "All the typos in this book are reckless!",
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Reckless (Kindle Edition)
First, I love this book. I love all Amanda Quick books. However, be warned, the kindle edition has a ton of typos. Literally 1/page on average. Multiples in a sentence are not uncommon. It must be the scanning software they used to convert this older paperback to electronic version? (Though I don't know why they didn't have it on a computer file somewhere... it's not that old.)
Eg. "And that wealth was now coupled to a tide that was the equal of Clarington's. With chat kind of fortune and status came power. Great power." tide= title chat= that My advice? Don't order the kindle version if typos are going to bother you. Other Amanda Quick books for the kindle have a lot of typos too, but this one is by far the worst one that I've read. If I'm going to pay $7.99 for a kindle version of Amanda Quick, I expect it not to have typos!! I won't be purchasing Amanda Quick books for my kindle in the future unless I hear this problem has been fixed!

I have been diligently buying my favorite books for Kindle and this is the worst Kindle edition I have ever seen! There are numerous, numerous typos (yes I said numerous twice - because there are so many) and it has really affected my enjoyment of this book - having to stop and figure out what it is supposed to say instead of what it does say. I would guess that this was created using and optical scanner because the words are not misspellings but more like it should be darn and instead it says dam. A HUGE dissapointment!!!

Sloppy Editing Overshadows Writing,
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Reckless (Kindle Edition)
Sorry, but there were so many editing errors that I had a hard time even reading this eBook. I find this insulting as a reader and as a consumer.....I'm not worth the effort to make sure the product is error-free? Amazon is probably the culprit here.....but I hold the author responsible since her name is on the product. I've broadcasted my love for my Kindle far and wide in the years I've owned it....but the glow is fading with this kind of treatment. As to the story itself, these were some of my favorite characters in the Quick formula series and I thoroughly enjoyed their antics throughout the plot development....but felt like the ending was a little weak.

HAD DOUBTS IN THE BEGINNING, BUT ENDED UP BEING HILARIOUS,
By
This review is from: Reckless (Mass Market Paperback)
Some people find Quick's books remarkably similar from book to book, and consider it redundant and unimaginative. What I adore about Quick's books is that, I can trust that there is a mysterious, strong, flawed hero who will be inherently honorable, who, early-on in the story, falls in love with the heroine whether he admits it to himself or not, that he would not be cruel (but will make mistakes) toward the heroine, who is in the company of the heroine throughout the book. The heroine, always headstrong, always champions the hero, who is a self-thinker, who has special talents that is unique to women at the time period, who seems to think love is truly love if he says so with words and not merely by actions. I can't stand it when there is dire misunderstandings between the couple or cruelity towards the woman or when there is moments of long separation, and Quick spares me of that in all her books thus far. Reckless has all the above ingredient, and therefore very satisfying.
"Reckless", however, was different from her other books in that the heroine Phoebe, while being headstrong and impulsive, was also hilarious. She made me laugh more than any other heroine I've read by Quick. Some of Quick's other heroines who were also reckless, placing themselves in dangerous positions irritated me because they acted ridiculously and with obvious foolishness that you just want to shake them. Phoebe didn't rub me that way at all. There was something more naive in her adventures, more believeable, and more congruent to the nature of her character. She was known by her entire family as extremely reckless, almost preoccupied with her inclinations as not to be aware of the dangers and consequences. Therefore, when she continued to behave recklessly, it was not so disturbing because she was being consistent. Unlike other stories where the heroines were headstrong and acted reckless because she was headstrong. To me being strong-willed and stubborn doesn't include stupid risks and acting irresponsible & foolishly. The hero, Gabriel, began the story acting unhonorably, wanting to use Phoebe to avenge Phoebe's family for their attempt to pay him to self banishment into the South Seas for kidnapping their elder dtr from a marriage she was not in agreement with. Of course, Gabriel saw the incident as him rescuing the girl from a poor match, but the family saw it as much more threatening. I was relieved when, early-on in the story Gabriel was able to see the incident 8 yrs ago from her family's point of view, and developed a amiable relationship with her family. Again, I was pleased with that developement and seeing the hero admit when he is wrong and continue rightly. And of course, there was a villain that threatened the peaceful existance of our characters and only strengthened the relationship b/w Gabriel and her family, and Gabriel with Phoebe. This book was a page-turner. It was entertaining, funny, and satisfying. I recommend it.

A great read!,

This is the second book that I've bought by
Amanda Quick, but not the second one I've read.
Quick gets better with every book she writes.
Now that I've had a taste of what Quick writes,
I'm bent on collecting all of her books. Her books
are the type of books that you will never get
tired of. It's a type of book you have to read
over and over again. Diane
