Reckless Nights in Rome - Introduction

Though the name of her celebration and wedding cake business is up in lights, Bronte Ludlow doesn't care for the trappings of success. All that matters to her is her company, her independence and her heritage,The Dower House. Home to her ancestors since the seventeenth century, no way will she part with it to ‘a man with too much money and no soul’.

Nico Ferranti’s only passions are money and power... He's a man who stopped believing in romance long ago and Bronte's a romantic, yet the attraction sparking between them like fireworks over the Piazza del Popolo stuns Nico.
When Bronte's brother is badly hurt in a car accident in Rome, Nico whisks Bronte to the Eternal City. He wants her and he wants The Dower House and Nico Ferranti always gets what he wants.

But Bronte’s heart has already been broken by one ruthless charmer and although tempted she isn’t about to give up either her heart or her home to the charismatic Italian without a fight!

5.0 out of 5 stars NOT your average romance! June 29, 2012
By Kass
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This is a great debut novel. I've become a bit jaded when it comes to romances; they all seem to follow the same formula. But with this book, I was pleasantly surprised.

This book stands out from other romances for several reasons. One is the realistic character development. The main characters have areas of their lives where they are quite confident, and others where they are not so secure. Even the secondary characters are well developed and interesting. And the issues that keep Bronte and Nico from fully committing to each other are not contrived misunderstandings but real fears and concerns. Bronte, still recovering from an emotionally abusive relationship, is naturally distrustful of playboy Nico. And Nico has good reason to tread softly when dealing with the sister of his good friend and business partner, not to mention he has his own emotional scar tissue. Each has secrets that they are not yet ready to share-secrets that could be deal-breakers.

Last but not least, the sex scenes are well-written-very, very hot but never crude. All this is set against the backdrop of an old English estate turned luxury hotel and the street cafes, shops and exciting nightlife of Rome. Definitely a satisfying read and I look forward to more good things to come from CC MacKenzie.

5.0 out of 5 stars Romantic escape May 30, 2012
By Tamara
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This book is one fun, addictive, romantic read! I highly recommend it to anyone who wants to forget about reality for a while, and get hooked by a delightfully complex heroine and dazzlingly exotic hero. The plot moves right along with a couple big unexpected twists - but not so fast that readers don't get to savor the budding relationship and romance. (Major adult content here!) I just couldn't put this one down! The setting provided for additional enjoyment, also. Looking forward to reading more by CC MacKenzie!

5.0 out of 5 stars One Seriously Scorching Romance! July 19, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
C.C. MacKenzie brings together two strong, haunted, beautiful souls in this novel to create an unforgettable love story that you just get lost in. Nico is every woman's fantasy and Bronte is the kind of woman you want to befriend. The reader follows their struggles, misunderstandings and wickedly-hot moments until the surprising climax. (pun intended) Romance lovers, be sure you don't miss this one!

3.0 out of 5 stars FORGETABLE! October 27, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Writing a bad review is never fun. This book just didn't do it for me. I did not connect with Nico and Bronte. Their love making was over the top and at times simply ridiculous (sorry). Maybe if the story was set in a different era it would've made more sense. Although I found myself skipping pages, I did finish just because I thought maybe it would get better. I give it 3 stars for effort.

5.0 out of 5 stars 5* Hotness ahead! March 4, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I am so glad I took a chance on this - finished it at an ungodly hour under the duvet last night and instantly purchased the next 2. Couldn't believe it was the 1st book for this author - I am so impressed. I am really critical and so far the only thing that jarred was the use of the word "segue(d)". It's not a verb i've seen used much and it popped up several times - enough that I noticed so it felt like it was author's word of the month! But that's it for criticism & it was so minor. The steamy scenes surpassed pretty much anything I've read in a long time and I inhale books. They were so real, flowed beautifully and I so wanted it to be me! Nico is beyond hot with enough realness about him to prevent him being unbelievable. Same goes for Bronte and the way they both hurt in their own heads/reasons for misunderstandings/angst etc is plausible. I love the way Bronte describes Nico saying her name.."Brrrrrrronte" sigh. The best scene IMO in this is in her kitchen - 100% steam. I won't spoil it but I went back and reread it a few times it was that good. In fact I did that a few times throughout the book. I didn't want it to end and when it did I was gagging for the Alexander/Rosie story which isn't till book 3. Arghghghgh. The cover art doesn't do the book any justice but I'm hoping anyone that reads this will take a leap - it was free so nothing to lose and a fabulous way to spend a few hours. I know it'll be one I'll reread over and over. Well done CC Mackenzie, I am converted & looking forward to disappearing into 2 & 3 of this series. Brilliant!

4.0 out of 5 stars A thoroughly good read August 1, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I got this as a freebie and what a pleasant surprise it was. I really enjoyed the story and read it in one sitting. Nice characters with a little bit of emotional baggage. I absolutely loved the H and the way he came around so quickly to love. The h was lovely and vulnerable. The author did a good job and I'm now going to read the rest of the series.

4.0 out of 5 stars Enjoyable read! January 6, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I was really sucked into this story! I got it for free on my kindle so thought, why not read it? I liked it so much I bought the second book in this 'Ludlow Hall series' as a result! The characters are well written and likeable and you can't help but get caught up in their drama! A dashing Italian suitor, a trip to bella Roma - what's not to like. If you enjoy a good romance novel - definitely give this a read!

3.0 out of 5 stars Too much sex for me November 5, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
It's a rather slim plot, but the characters are interesting. However, I skipped about half the book, because it was pages and pages of sex scenes. I don't need, or even like, my romances to be so sexually explicit.

Well written story. Predictable, but good story line. An easy read that is good for passing the time while waiting somewhere.

2.0 out of 5 stars Sexually explicit
The pornographic sex scene don't fit with the novel. And there should be a mention of the explicitness on the book jacket or in the description.
