5.0 out of 5 stars It just don't quit!, October 15, 2003
This review is from: Reckless Pedestrian (Audio CD)
Bill and I used to work together in Austin back in the day, and his music has continued to be an inspiration to me even after all these years. This album is the essence of what Bill knows best: Texas, women and politics (not necessarily in that order). The tunes overflow with emotion, and they tell a better story than your grandpa ever told. From one Texan to the Amazon World, this album is real, real good.

5.0 out of 5 stars A great CD., July 3, 2001

After having listened to many of Bill's political and poetic ramblings in the early 90's, I must say they are much easier to listen to when put to music. On a serious note, this CD offers a variety of great music, combined with visually captivating lyrics. My whole family loves this CD, even though my kids wonder why I always turn it down during a certain part of "Willy Ford" (no use corrupting next year's kindergarten class). I think this CD is a must for anyone who enjoys good acoustic music.

5.0 out of 5 stars Simply, a Great Album, December 13, 2000

A friend introduced me to Bill's music several years ago, and this album epitomizes the reasons I've been following his career closely ever since. It's a rare gift that Bill has, being able to listen to his heart in order to find what issues he wants to write about, and then using an amazing intellect to express how he feels about those issues. From the wistful sweetness of songs like "Whiskey," to the embittered anger of songs like "Willy Ford," Bill always uses a razor-sharp wit to convey his thoughts; but unlike many other intelligent singer/ songwriters of the day, he doesn't hide behind that wit. Rather, he uses it to convey a simple and raw honesty in every one of his songs. And then there are the performances of the songs. The credits list in the cd jacket of Reckless Pedestrian reads like a who's-who of the current American folk scene, and Bill's smooth guitar work and intense vocals tie them all together perfectly. This album is going to be monopolizing my cd player for quite a while.

4.0 out of 5 stars A breath of fresh air., November 8, 2000

Finally a country folkie who just writes songs. Songs for the sake of the song. No overproduction here...just down-to-earth-honest-to-goodness songs. Bill writes with an intensity and honesty you just don't hear anymore. The melodies are catchy and the lyrics are packed full of humour, wit, pain, and mischieviousness. You can hear and feel the experience in his voice and in the music that Bill makes. So, if you're looking for honesty then look no further. I can't wait to hear more.

5.0 out of 5 stars Style and Grace, October 5, 2000

Bill Passalaqua, a musician in every sense of the word, uses style and grace to express his music. His style of music can be identified as a mix between folk, country and a little blugrass all thrown into the spin cycle. Bill hails from central Illinos but calls Austin TX his home. Look for his upcoming Music video (Dream Vacation) from QDOGG Productions in late October

Reckless Pedestrian hits all levels. You can just sit back and let the music release your troubles. You can listen closely to the words and relate to the adventures of the artist. You can even practice your own karaoke in the privacy of your home or car. This cd makes me feel young again. I recommend this cd for anyone who wants to understand what they are listening to and not be depressed by it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Neat guy, great CD, June 2, 2000
This review is from: Reckless Pedestrian (Audio CD)
My wife and I met Bill at a party where he played a few tunes and we were hooked. We went to see him the next day playing at a Mexican joint down in S. Austin and had a blast. Bill's a nice guy- look for his next CD with the song "Sh*t Can Blues"- it's a hoot. Our favorite off of "Reckless" is "Willie Ford". Good Luck Bill!
