Book Description

Fallen March 2, 2004

The time has come for Aaron Corbet, the eighteen-year-old son of an angel and a mortal, to face his worst enemy. Verchiel, the fallen leader of the Powers, is determined to defeat the prophecy that foretold Aaron's power over all the Fallen. And to do this, he intends to kill Aaron, hoping that the removal of such a "blight" will restore Verchiel in the eyes of the Creator.

Aaron has been training for this showdown, working to understand and control the awesome force that resides deep within himself. He knows he will win. After all, Verchiel has taken away everything and everyone who ever meant anything to Aaron. He has nothing to lose...until Verchiel introduces Aaron to his long-lost father.

More About the Author

THOMAS E. SNIEGOSKI is the author of more than two dozen novels for adults, teens, and children. His teen fantasy YA series Fallen was adapted into a trilogy of monstrously successful TV movies by ABC Family Channel. His other books for teens include Sleeper Code, Sleeper Agenda, and Force Majeure, as well as the series The Brimstone Network. The author's first adult novel featuring angelic detective, Remy Chandler, A Kiss Before the Apocalypse, hit shelves last year. Its sequel, Dancing on the Head of a Pin, was released in May of 2009.
Sniegoski's work for younger readers includes Billy Hooten: Owlboy, and the fantasy quartet OutCast, which he co-authored with Christopher Golden. Sniegoski and Golden have also collaborated on the adult dark fantasy series The Menagerie, and multiple creator-owned comic book series, including The Sisterhood, and Talent, currently in development at Universal after a major bidding war.
As a comic book writer, Sniegoski's work includes Stupid, Stupid Rat Tails, a prequel miniseries to international hit, Bone. Sniegoski collaborated with Bone creator Jeff Smith on the prequel, making him the only writer Smith has ever asked to work on those characters. Sniegoski and Golden also wrote the graphic novel BPRD: Hollow Earth, a spinoff from Hellboy.
Sniegoski was born and raised in Massachusetts, where he still lives with his wife LeeAnne and their Labrador Retriever, Mulder. Tom recently completed the new young adult novel, LEGACY, which is set to be released in October of 2009, and is currently writing the next Remy Chandler novel, Where Angels Fear to Tread.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Happy Accident, March 12, 2004
By
Alexis Andrea (Long Island, NY) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Reckoning (The Fallen) (Mass Market Paperback)
I first came across Sniegoski's "Fallen" series by accident while working as a councelor at a Maine summer camp. It was the best thing ever. Ever since reading the first book, I've been officially hooked.
"The Reckoning" continues with all the power and enticing action that started in the first book. It just keeps on going. I was beyond impatient to get the book, and very smug while finally reading it.
The storyline truly is fantastic. I fear giving anything away so all I must say is "pick it up!" That, reinforced with the fact that every friend I have who has read the series has loved it as much as I.
A large majority of books screw up when it comes to concluding a story. They seem to write out of context just to finish their writing. "The Reckoning" flows awesomely. I was not disappointed at all while still remaining intrigued with what could and may happen after the last chapter.
Pick up the whole series! It's definitely worth it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Hate for this series to end!! Excellent read!, July 26, 2007

This review is from: Reckoning (The Fallen) (Mass Market Paperback)
Sniegoski ends The Fallen series with a bang in Reckoning - This is the final showdown between Aaron and Vercheil. Vercheil is an avenging angel who has corrupted his original quest from God (to round up fallen angels) to killing them and the children of angels and women, Nephilim. Aaron is also fighting to help Vilma, his love, to complete her transformation to Nephilim - she's having a hard time, like some do, and if it doesn't work, the person sometimes go crazy and have to be killed -
This series puts a new light on Lucifer, the fallen angel who was once the brightest, best of God's angels. His jealousy helped create the divide in Heaven, and it was under his banner that the fallen angels fought God. Lucifer's punishment was Hell, but all the suffering and pain one thinks of Hell is inside him. He painfully bears this punishment for his crimes against God. But he is part of the key for the fallen angels' redemption -
This is a wonderful series - I hated to see it end - one of the best characters is Gabriel, Aaron's Golden Lab - He is a wonderful asset to the series and is as strong a character as any in the book.
The resolution is spectacular, and if you have not read the series The Fallen before, do so - it is an exciting and wondrous series.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Final Book Of A Awesome Series, Too Bad, December 19, 2009
This review is from: Reckoning (The Fallen) (Mass Market Paperback)
This is the conclusion to a awesome series of books. It was by far my favorite book of the series. Only draw back to the book is that it left me wanting more without another book to fill the void. It was a great conclusion to the series. It had everything you could want from great action imagery, to the conclusion to a love story, to the conclusion to the mystery that ran throughout the series. Just the plot and story line in this book is just amazing. You can feel the tension during the battle scenes and the worry during the critical moments. The imagery improves from that of the earlier books. Again you can just see the surrounding structures and figures that fill the pages of the book. It keeps you guessing as to what is going to happen next. In some places it gives you feeling that it's going to go a certain way and then all of the sudden it changes and goes in a different direction. When the final battles begin to wadge you can feel the conflict between the good and evil. It just keeps you turning the pages just as quick as you can finish the page before it, always wondering what the next page may bring. I myself wish there were another book or two in the series, but i know that all good things must come to an end. I wouldn't want and 5th book come out and it turn out to not be as good as the rest of the series and mess it up the continuous flow of each book in the series, as each book got better than the previous book. This book as well as the rest of the series is well worth the read. It is a amazing series.
