Home, Home on the Range,
This review is from: Reclaiming Nick (Noble Legacy Series #1) (Paperback)
Susan May Warren excels in writing men. I didn't warm up to her main heroine until several chapters into the book, but Nick grabbed me right away. Warren has a way with words. Bursts of beautiful prose fill "Reclaiming Nick." Tragedy marks each major character, and as I read, I began to root for them, hoping they'd find what they needed. A touch of mystery added to the read. Enough detail was provided that the conclusion didn't shock me, so those of you who don't do well with intense suspense should be able to read it with ease. The underlying spiritual themes of redemption, forgiveness and God's sovereignty were thoughtfully written. Christianese was not overdone, but the spiritual truths were strong. The relationships covered in the book were handled well, also. "Reclaiming Nick" didn't feel sitcom surreal (perfect resolution in seventeen and a half minutes.) Warren stuck to her genre guidelines and crafted mostly believable, almost real characters. I will finish the series.

I just finished "Reclaiming Nick" and what a story. It centered around Nick Noble, his old girlfriend, Maggie and his best friend Cole. Nick returns to the family ranch "The Silver Buckle" after his fathers death to face his past and to make sure the Buckle land stays in the family. Meanwhile, Piper Sullivan, a journalist, believes that Nick framed her brother and sent him to prison. She arrives at the Buckle posing as a cook to try to trap Nick into a confession. Only trouble is...things are not always as they seem.
As Nick continues to try to over turn his father's will...Piper does some digging. Lots of family secrets emerge as you ride to an exciting and satisfying conclusion. Susan did a wonderful job of showing us a picture of forgiveness and love. Can't wait to meet Rafe! Yeeee Hawww!!!!!

One tall tale and a hot cowboy....what more do you need?,

My friend Susie has done it again! I LOVED this story and I really loved Nick. (sssh, don't tell Hubby I was swooning over a fictional character again. This book might actually show drool marks!) Susie found a home for Nick in the rugged western terrain and really made a splash with the women in our writers group....ohhh just wait until you meet Rafe in the upcoming sequel! Whew! I can't wait to read it and in the meantime, YOU need to be reading THIS story! What are you waiting for? A tall tale, a hot cowboy - come on, really. Incorporate all that with an amazing, moving story and an inspiring, satisfying, SURPRISE ending, and...wow! Now that's a novel.

Grace and Redemption,
This review is from: Reclaiming Nick (Noble Legacy Series #1) (Paperback)
Reclaiming Nick will capture your attention and emotions from the very first sentence. Susan May Warren has created a thoroughly believable male lead in Nick Noble, a modern day prodigal son. Nick returns home after the death of his father intending to settle family financial business, not realizing that God has a plan for the trip that will exceed his expectations. Nick is a man who has faults and a strong personality, but he's a man who loves with all his heart and is protective of those he cares about. The reader shares both his mistakes and triumphs and is left with a smile at the end of the book.
I thoroughly enjoyed the location in which this novel was set. I've spent very little time out West, but after reading Reclaiming Nick, it seems like a familiar place. I loved reading the book and picturing the open landscape under the big starry sky. The setting drew the reader into the story and paralleled one of the themes in the book. Even in a wide open, predictable land, God can surprise you with a beautifully unexpected piece of creation, such as the spot on the Noble's land called "the Cathedral", Nick Noble's favorite place. Susan May Warren makes you feel so close to the characters that you feel like you should join them around a campfire and share stories. They are real people who have pasts, hurts, and imperfections, but who learn to live out the hope of redemption offered in Christ. When the book ends, the reader feels as though the story has come to a satisfying conclusion, and yet believes that the characters will continue to live their lives long after the book is set down. It takes incredible skill to create characters that real. If you're looking for a story that will make you laugh, draw you into the lives of the characters, and leave you with a clearer picture of God's grace, I highly recommend Reclaiming Nick. Head out to a bookstore; it's one to read again and again.

I was excited to see that she had a new book out and I was not disappointed! it was fabulous! It wasn't quite as good as her Russian suspense stuff, but it was definitely really good. I thought I had the plot figured out pretty early, but I kept getting surprised anyway. I would definitely suggest checking this out! It is definitely worth your time and money!

I enjoyed this book - the characters had flaws, but demonstrated that people can overcome with God's help. There were some twists and surprises, which keeps a book interesting!

Another wonderful book!,

As usual, Suzie delivers a gripping, keep-you-on-the-edge-of-your-seat story. Her talent at character development shines in this novel. She continues to get better with each story.
This one is a prodigal son tale, the story of Nick Noble and how he must reclaim his noble legacy and atone for the sins of his past. He's a dashing, suave, tall dark and handsome cowboy. The kind of cowboy that just about every girl dreams of at some time in her life. And as usual, the suspense elements did not disappoint. I was completely entrhalled in the last third of the book, to the point of being slightly rude to the people around me by completely ignoring them so I could finish it. Romance fans will delight in it, suspense fans will delight in, and the big-eyed cowgirl who hides inside will delight in. Another fine and wonderful story from the very talented Susan May Warren.

Newest wonderful series from Susan May Warren,
This review is from: Reclaiming Nick (Noble Legacy Series #1) (Paperback)
I loved this story! The characters were extremely realistic and lovable. I thought Nick was a doll and remained true to his character while still growing in Christ. I liked Piper and appreciated her willingness to question her preconceived ideas about Nick.
While I enjoy a little more dialog between characters I thought that the plot and progression of the relationships was well done. The story took an unexpected turn which kept me reading until 1:00 am! I had to finish it! I highly recommend Reclaiming Nick (Noble Legacy).

wonderful inspirational family drama,
This review is from: Reclaiming Nick (Noble Legacy Series #1) (Paperback)
Loaded with guilt and remorse that he never retuned before his estranged father died, Nick Noble knows he must go home now that his late dad's lawyer Saul Lovell arrives to explain the will. He is outraged that his dad left any of the Montana Silver Buckle Ranch to his once best friend Cole St. John and that his sister Stefanie is converting the spread to a dude ranch. He plans to contest the will and to prevent Stefanie's plans.
Reporter Piper Sullivan believes that Nick abused his law enforcement duties when he arrested her brother Jimmy McPhee for the murder of Jenny Butler. Nick is no longer a cop and Jimmy has been exonerated after five years in prison. However, while Jimmy has vanished, Piper plans to prove that Nick used her sibling to hide his killing of Jenny. She gets work as a cook on the ranch while his neglect of the past decade towards family and friends catch up to him. As the undercover reporter and her prey fall in love, he begins to learn the truth of just how many mistakes and hurt he left behind ten years ago. The first Noble Legacy tale is a wonderful inspirational family drama starring a terrific cast who do not agree on much except that loved ones are everything. The lead pair is a strong coupling as she has every reason to hate him, but instead falls in love with him; she knows once she reveals the truth he will feel betrayed and not trust her. Other subplot spins seem almost soap operaish, but Susan Warren May shows her writing skill by making them excel. Fans of contemporary tales will enjoy RECLAIMING NICK as he learns from piper what really matters in life. Harriet Klausner

I've had this one on my "to-read" list for a while and finally decided to break away from my usual historical romance and read one with a contemporary setting. Nick was the hunky, cowboy hero that was coming face to face with consequences of past mistakes. Piper was the reporter out for revenge not a relationship. Although I enjoyed the book, I just didn't connect with Piper or the romance between her and Nick. There were really only a handful of good conversations between them so I felt like the relationship was very rushed. Maggie and Cole's story was my favorite part of the book and basically what kept me reading, along with wanting to know the full story of how Cole, Maggie and Nick's friendship ended up torn apart. I guess I'm saying I enjoyed the overall plot but the romance fell flat for me.
