This could be any competent bar band...,

...but Creedence is isn't.
You know those amateur bands who model themselves on acts like Deep Purple or Led Zeppelin and perform as "Deep Purple Jam" or "Led Zeppelin Jam"? This is kinda like that. A competent cover band. Sorry, Mr Cook and Mr Clifford, but this is just the oddest thing. Not only does singer John Tristao sound eerily like John Fogerty, his vocals are literally a carbon copy of the lead vocal tracks that Fogerty recorded for these songs around 1970. And this meticulous recreation of the Creedence Clearwater Revival sound is just plain weird, especially considering the supposedly strained relationship between Fogerty and his former band mates. Why would they play his songs? And not only that, but why would they play them EXACTLY like he does? It's hard to imagine why anyone would want this, to be honest. It's not like you can't find this music elsewhere. All of Creedence's albums are readily available in pristine remastered editions (check out the stellar sound on the 2008 editions), and John Fogerty still tours, performing much, much better versions of his own songs than anything you'll find here. Go for his 1998 live album "Premonition" if updated CCR is what you're after! Now, I'm not saying that these aren't good songs, absolutely not. They're great songs, and the five-man band play them very well. But "Creedence Clearwater Revisited" could at least have tried to make these songs their own...come on guys, rearrange them a little. Or better yet, write some new material and perform that. But no, the vast majority of these performances are really just stale imitations. It's not a bad record, but it is a pretty strange one, and a superflous one for sure.

After seeing C C Revisited in atlantic City NJ, I wanted to continue the enjoyment of listening to the timeless hits of Creedence. There was no dissappointment there! Every song they do is dead on. i highly recomend this double CD without hesitation. Pick it up. J.L.

Creedence Clearwater Revisited,
By Woo-Dog (Wichita, KS) - See all my reviews

This is a live CD made up of former band members of Creedence Clearwater Revival. While the skill of the musicians has still held up after all of these years, John Fogerty was sorely missed. Creedence without John Fogerty is like ketchup without tomatoes. The vocalist who was hired to replace him sounded like a lounge singer vainly attempting to impersonate Fogerty. I went out and bought a "real" Creedence CD to replace it.

Sure, John Fogerty isn't here. To tell the truth Fogerty doesn't have the voice he used to have either. I think Tristao does a great job here. I enjoyed listening to all of the songs. I give it 5 stars. Their rendition of Cotton Fields is even better than when Fogerty did it many years back.

Buyer Beware!,

This is Doug Clifford and Stu Cooke's attempt to recreate CCR. There's just one little problem - no John Fogerty. If I could give it 0 stars, I would.

Not The Original Band, Doesn't Even Sound 'Live',
This review is from: Recollection (Audio CD)
The recording sounds better than 'The Best of CCR' but it's not Creedence Clearwater Revival performing. With a different and only competent lead singer, a different band and only a couple of CCR's original members, the 'Revisited' in the album's title is just misleading clever marketing. The original unique sound of CCR is gone. While the recording sounds much better than on the album 'The Best of CCR', the audience cheering, whistling and clapping sounds incredibly canned, fake and forced, like a track that was laid over (or under) the music. When you consider that this group is just parroting the original sound of CCR, that seems kind of appropriate.

Beg to differ,

I prefer Revisited to current Fogerty performances. Fogerty plays em exactly like on the records...all 2 mins and 25 secs of a song. Nothing diff, no inspiration, no jamming, nothing creative. May as well just play the records. Revisited, in my unhumble opinion, improves on the great songs of CCR. Longer versions, some improv etc. Great stuff.

I don't think so!,

This is just too obvious an attempt by Stu Cook and Doug Clifford to cash in on former glory days. Creedence without John Fogerty?! I don't think so, since he wrote and sang every hit they ever did. Nice try guys, but give it up and move on!!
