I called the author, Johanna Kaestner, to tell her that I was unhappy with my wedding photographer, Michael Steinberg, who is listed in her books. When asked, Steinberg told us his policy was not to sell his negatives, which is fine. But after spending over $5000 and ordering multiple copies of photos to give to family members, he turned around and said that if we paid him $200 more, he would give us the nagatives! In addition, he did not provide any black and white photos, which we *very* clearly told him we wanted. Needless to say, he is highly unprofessional, and in my opinion, unworthy of being listed in _By Recommendation Only_. When I spoke to Ms. Kaestner, I assumed that I was doing her a favor in alerting her of Steinberg's practices, however, she only defended him. When I asked if he paid her to be listed, she said she had to make money somehow. Don't buy this book. It is merely a collection of paid advertisements by people who want to milk as much money as possible from you. Please don't reward this author for lying to us!

My wife and I were just married on May 13th, and this book provided us with a wealth of excellent information on wonderful vendors in the San Francisco bay area. We located our photographer (Glenn Jay Photography), DJ (Soundtrax), and many other resources here, and they were spectacular! This book not only saved us much time and work, but was also a link to some of the best wedding professionals in this area. If you're getting married within the next 2 years, please do yourself a favor and pick this book up!

I got engaged last month, and one of my engagement gifts was this wonderful book. When I first went to look for a book, I did not know what to look for. This book gives me access to all the vendors within the San Francisco Bay area. I feel a lot of all the hard part of the job is done for me, and I really can enjoy the engagement. So far I have found a wonderful band, photographer, and location. As a very nervous bride that wants everything to be perfect, this has really put my mind at ease. I highly recommend this book anyone getting party or even throwing a party.

This reference book contains invaluable tips, advice and reviews about the vendors and venues that can make your special day extra special. Its pages contain eye opening answers and anecdotes that will spare countless hours of research and worry for even the most seasoned host.

As someone who is in the bridal industry, I find this book extreamly helpful in finding the perfect atmosphere for any special occasion. I have worked with the author on a professional level and find her attention to detail and her inspiration very helpful, especially on such an important event. This book reflectes her knowledge, professional expierence, and attention to detail that would help any bride-to-be in planning her wedding. At work, I refer and reccommend many clients this very informative book.
