Good product but has some weaknesses: still working fine so far, December 6, 2009
This review is from: Recon 264146BK Smoked Cab Roof Lights 2003-2007 Dodge Heavy-Duty 2500 & 3500 (5-Piece Set) (Misc.)
Update 12/24/2010
Still working though one light is going off sometimes and were leaking a little. I tightened up the screws a little and the leak stopped. I will check the connections and get back to you.
So far still seem well made
The light modules themselves seem well made and are attractive. The gasket on the bottom is across the full bottom of the light not just the ring gasket on the OEM lights. This is a smart improvement. My OEM lights would not have leaked had they adopted this gasket.
The wire harness is fine though when replacing existing cab lights you can either splice each light OR splice in the new harness (by lowering the headliner a little). If you use their harness like I did, you will need to extend the ground wire to connect to the stock harness (not really a problem).
The lights only show from the front which I think is a sharp look.
The biggest weakness, is when using their harness. The connectors from each individual light to their harness. Two of my five lights would not come on initially until I took them back off :-x and jiggled them in the sockets. One was fixed but the fifth light would go out every time the plug was inserted fully into the socket no matter how I moved things around. I needed to insert that lights plug partially in their harness socket for the light to stay on and tape it in that position.
The harness socket was a soft rubber that keeps it shape poorly. Worse, the plug from the light side is a little plastic wedge with a single wires on each side like those fragile little Christmas lights we all love to hate. That is where it makes poor contact. If I have problems with those sockets again I will just cut the plugs and sockets off and splice them directly
Stupid that such a nice light has an awful connector, but you'll see what I mean if you buy them. I assume they chose this plug because it would also plug into the OEM light housing. They need to fix the plug and socket. Its poor, though you can easily cut em off and splice yourself.
ALSO: The screws they supply are decent Stainless Steel. The heads are smallish but the rubber washer is way too weak to screw the lights on firmly. Get #10 nylon washers to put between the screwhead and washer and then you can snug the screws to OEM levels. It also works fine with just nylon washers. The rubber washers and small head screws are an "we never tested this at the factory error".
Bad washers and poor plugs are workable, though annoying.
Otherwise, a sound and attractive light set. I would definitely buy them again.

Great addition, December 5, 2011
This review is from: Recon 264146BK Smoked Cab Roof Lights 2003-2007 Dodge Heavy-Duty 2500 & 3500 (5-Piece Set) (Misc.)
I have a maroon colored Ram and the stock orange roof lights always clashed when I looked at them. The Recon lights are black LED and look great. I do not know if they are brighter than the stock lights but they definitely make the truck look more complete. I am real happy go RECON

look good but wont last, October 5, 2011
This review is from: Recon 264146BK Smoked Cab Roof Lights 2003-2007 Dodge Heavy-Duty 2500 & 3500 (5-Piece Set) (Misc.)
i have these lights about 5 months but have them turned on about 7 or 8 times during the summer night. Now 1 of them is burned out. i called recon to ask for replacement bulbs but was told that the bulbs are NOT servicable. you have to replace the whole since the Xenon gas filled style bulbs last only 6 months or so according google search. i looking for other set that the bulbs are servicable so i won't have to replace the whole len & base each time that increase the chance water leaking into the cab.
