This Reconditioned Cordless String Trimmer (CST1000R) features the exclusive Black & Decker Automatic Feed Spool (AFS) system that automatically advances cutting string without bumping. This Automatic Feed System utilizes centrifugal force to feed the trimmer line as it is needed. This cordless string trimmer has the capacity to trim grass after mowing for up to 1/2 acre lots on a single charge! The powerful 12-volt battery supplies the motor with ample power to work as a superior unit trimming heavy weeds, grass, and overgrowth. This cordless trimmer/edger is very quiet, effortless to start, and requires no gas, oil or tune-ups. The Groom 'N' Edge head rotates 180 degrees to convert the trimmer to an edger and from edger to trimmer in a matter of seconds. Used as an edger, the flip-down edge guide assists with edging along sidewalks and driveways. A secondary handle adjusts for increased comfort and control. A lock-off switch prevents accidental start-ups to ensure safe usage every time

I have mowed 3 yards for 2 years now, a combination of 3 acres, only having to buy more cord (6) so far, and just recently another cord cover.
I've gotten numerous mowings out of this little machine. True enough on the thick grass that would stall your lawn mower this weedeater doesn't stand a chance. I've used gas and corded weedeaters. Unless they just make some lemons no one has the right to give this machine anything less than 4 stars.

This Lightweight trimmer is easy to carry around, and does an excellent job.A Charge seems to last forever. I Mow with a push reel mower, and the occasional long bit is left behind. I just follow up with this, and the lawn looks great! It is quiet and easy on the environment too.

underpowered for any real application,

I wanted an electric string trimmer because I don't like the noise of a gas powered trimmer. A cordless trimmer appealed to me because I don't have to haul 100 feet of extension cord to use it. Even though my yard is very small (1/4 acre) and I have nothing but grass to trim along the house and fence, this trimmer was far too under-powered. It simply wouldn't cut grass efficiently. I also found the automatic string feed to be unreliable...I would always end up with about 1 inch of string and I would have to tap it against the ground to try to get it to feed. Also, I found the unit uncomfortable to use - it's poorly balanced due to the heavy battery. This season I broke down and replaced the cordless trimmer with a small 25cc gas powered unit. It is very noisy, but it gets the job quicker, easier, and better. Unless you have a complete phobia of gas powered trimmers, I would not recommend this tool.
