Great little saw,
By F. Millican "F. Millican" (Arkansas) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Factory Reconditioned Poulan P3314 or P3314WS 14-Inch 33cc 2-Stroke Gas-Powered Chain Saw (Lawn & Patio)
This is the perfect chain saw for the homeowner who has small (<12" diameter)trees to cut down, or wants to easily remove medium sized limbs for pruning landscaping purposes.
It starts everytime. You will have to pull the cord a few times, but it always starts. The small size makes it perfect for small jobs around the house. I had 20+ scrub trees obstructing my bluff veiws, and this saw made short work of them. I'm very happy with my saw. Less than $100 spent and it vastly decreases my work time on the weekends.

Factory-refurbished Poulan P3314WSA chainsaw,

This review is from: Factory Reconditioned Poulan P3314 or P3314WS 14-Inch 33cc 2-Stroke Gas-Powered Chain Saw (Lawn & Patio)
My factory-refurbished Poulan P3314WSA (14" Wood Shark) chainsaw arrived last week. The order was well-packaged and complete, and the unit had been cleaned and refurbished very well after some previous use. The bar and chain were new. The bar spacer was in place to protect the saw during shipping, and the instructions and bar-tensioning tool were new.
It started up per the instructions, and has been working for me on small to medium-size jobs every day since. It does drink bar oil, but that's better than being stingy with it, I guess. The only problem was a bent but useable chain tensioning screw. I wrote to Poulan on their customer service website, and got a response the next day saying they're sending me a replacement. Though it hasn't arrived yet, I'm hopeful. So far, it's an excellent value. I wish I had bought the 16", since the 14" blade is kind of overwhelmed by the saw body, but that's my bad. Maybe I'll get a 16 or 18" saw next.

Refurbished Poulan Chain Saw Starting Problem,
By
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Factory Reconditioned Poulan P3314 or P3314WS 14-Inch 33cc 2-Stroke Gas-Powered Chain Saw (Lawn & Patio)
The best thing about purchasing this refurbished chainsaw from Amazon was the prompt shipment! The saw would not start after following the instructions in the manual. Then I called the 800 number in manual for problem solving. They gave me a warranty station to take the saw. At the warranty station the folks said they weren't a warranty station any more and bad mouthed Poulan. They did refer me to another chainsaw repair place where i had to leave the saw for >5 days and after a call, they called back and they said it was adjusted and I could pick it up. It started after more than several attempts and worked OK. Third time I went to use it it wouldn't start after 1 hour of trying. Let me explain that I use chain saw engines in large scale model airplanes I fly with radio control, so I am not a novice around small gas engines and am a degreed mechanical engineer.
I will now have to deal with the starting problem myself.

Froze Up twice,
This review is from: Factory Reconditioned Poulan P3314 or P3314WS 14-Inch 33cc 2-Stroke Gas-Powered Chain Saw (Lawn & Patio)
This saw works well but I bought two now and they both froze up on me after just over a year of use. In both the clutch froze in the housing causing the chain to lock in place. I bought the second one thinking I could use the first for spare parts, but this seems to be a design problem with the saw. I really didn't expect this to happen a second time. I would stear clear of this model.

Not bad for a Refurb. After several months on the field, this item has never failed to work properly.

Not the best price for this refurbished model and the I can see why a customer sent it back then it was remarketed for being refurbished. It is quite problematic to keep it running. Most things I have bought refurbished has worked fine except this purchase.

Great saw....when you locate parts,
This review is from: Factory Reconditioned Poulan P3314 or P3314WS 14-Inch 33cc 2-Stroke Gas-Powered Chain Saw (Lawn & Patio)
I purchased this refurbed unit for what I thought was a very reasonable price from an Amazon subsidiary (VMInnovations). It was purchased to help clear the mountains of storm debris following Hurricane Irene up here in MA.
The saw arrived about 4 days after the order was placed, which was great, as it was in time for the holiday weekend. When I took the saw out of the box, I realized that not all the parts for the saw were included- the oil reservior cap and the chain/bar oil was missing from the package. Incensed, I tried to call the seller, only to get a voice mail that stated their store was closed for the holiday weekend. Now unable to use this saw, I started calling around to different parts places and discovered that Ace Hardware caries Poulan products- I picked up a cap and oil for under 10$. I then assembled the saw when I returned home. I noticed that the plastic cover that has a metal insert to hold the chain to the saw cracked as soon as I began torquing down the bar screws- great. I looked at the crack and realized that it didnt affect the functionality or safety of the saw, so, I went to work. I managed to get it fired up, and, it wouldnt hold an idle and would die until I had zipped through a few decent sized limbs and got the unit good and warm. There have been some posts/reviews that state the carb needs to be adjusted- I will certainly do that next, but, right out of the box, it zipped through some 6" thick limbs with NO problem whatsoever and had plenty of torque, I feel, to tackle larger projects. Bottom line- you get what you pay for, and, for the occasional use, I think this saw is just what the doctor ordered! I'm just going to have to keep an eye on the plastic crack and figure out how to tune the carb- after that, I think it'll be good to go. Overall, a serviceable chainsaw- if you want quality, spend the extra $$ for a Husqvarna or a Stihl.

My 14" Poulan Wood Shark started right up and ran for 15 minutes. Now it don't start at all, the rope pulls out without engaging the engine.
You should be seeing this one on sale as a refurb real soon. Save your time and money and buy any other saw, this one is one poorly made product and over priced at $100. I have more time and money invested in trying get the saw fixed than I do using it.
