This saw arrived very quickly, and will satisfy my need for a back-up saw for clearing our recurring storm damage. I found the quality of the reconditioning lacking, however. This saw is a "self oiler". I'm sure this is intended to imply that the chain is automatically oiled while in use, but it also gets oil all over the operator. The saw arrived with the carburetor in need of significant adjustment - a problem the manual says requires return to a repair facility. I made a tool to perform the adjustment at home. The chain sent in a sealed package was too dull to use, but I sharpened it. These things should have been done at the reconditioning facility.

Poulan needs stricter quality control in their reconditioning dept. Chainsaw was sent to customer and would not run for more than a minute or two. Obviously, it was not set up properly by Poulan's reconditioning dept.

I HAVE PURCHASED THIS CHAIN SAW BECAUSE OF THE PRICE AND FEATURES, I HAVE ALSO READ THE REVIEWS BUT I BOUGHT IT ANYWAY. THIS SAW IS "FACTORY RECONDITIONED" WITH MEANS IT'S GARBAGE!! I WILL NOT GET INTO DETAILS BUT I HAVE USED MANY DIFFERENT SAWS BEFORE AND THIS ONE IS BY FAR THE WORST. I HAVE TO GET IT AND IT WILL PROBABLY COST MORE THEN THE CHAIN SAW ITSELF, BUT DID I MENTION THAT YOU CANNOT RETURN THIS PRODUCT!! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THAT YOU DO NOT BUY THIS CHAINSAW.

Well my review doesn't even include how it worked because well... it doesn't. First I didn't receive the advertised P4018WM Wild Thing. Instead I got a yellow Poulan Pro WM4218AV. Same size bar so no big deal I thought. Well I opened it up to start assembling and that's when I notice the entire chain tension assembly is missing so I can't tighten the chain to the bar. I've contacted Amazon just to ask for that part since I did pay for a working chainsaw. I'm told they can't help and to call another number for another department there. Well they're not open so now I'm wasting time trying to find the part number myself online so I can get this thing running. So far I've had it for an hour and it's been a terrible experience from Amazon. I'm sure once I can get it running it will be nice but you'd expect Amazon to take care of you when you are missing pieces of an item you paid for. Oh well I should have known from the other reviews.

After reading several bad reviews (but just as many good reviews) I decided to take my chances. I used it today for the first time. Fell and bucked about three trees. pretty medium sized trees nothing real big. I had no problems starting this thing, As long as you dont flood the engine it should start right up. I did however have to tighten the "T" Adjustment to get the thing to idle a bit faster, before i adjusted it it would not keep an idle and would stall. For those of you have this problem it's a simple fix.

Overall It seems like a pretty good saw for cutting firewood and clearing around the yard. I do see myself replacing the chain, it seems like a farely small chain and could use some bigger teeth. This saw does require some tweaking no doubt but for an experienced person this should be a decent buy.

It works alright when you get it going but it seems to stall fairly easily. I am not sure if it was made to do that for safety or not. Starts up again, quite easily though.

The product is great, was exactly what I expected. The shipping by UPS was another story as it got delaid for a week in Roseburg, Oregon (who knows why?).

Chain tightener was in the bar. Had to replace the bar and add anew chain tightener. Engine is strong but does not cut well for anything over 4inch.

Chainsaw is easy to operate, but has some annoying quirks. Most annoying, chainsaw is very difficult to restart and it has run for a little while.

This chainsaw is used, (as stated), but it does work satisfactory. You must realize that this is what I would call a "Homeowner" chainsaw. This is not something that you would want to use every day if you are cutting wood for a business, but if you need to cut some branches a few times a year this will work fine for you. It even say's on the front page of the manual "For occaisional use only". The engine doesn't idle very well and full throtle is a little erratic, but I can live with it for the little bit that I use it for.
