4.0 out of 5 stars OK. But Not Great.
Came with a broken spark plug which was not new. I wonder how you can recondition a trimmer without changing the spark plug? Had to go find a spark plug to fit in the trimmer before I could crank the thing up. It runs very rough and vibrates a lot at idle but does smooth out when you throttle it up. It will probably do a good job of trimming but it's not up to the...

I am not be able to return this trimmer to Amazon (their policy), and Ryobi will not help. I've given up and purchased a different trimmer from Walmart.

Read the fine print about the returns or satisfaction guaranteed!!!

1.0 out of 5 stars RYOBI 30CC reconditioned trimmer, May 26, 2008
This review is from: Factory Reconditioned Ryobi 17-Inch 30cc 1 HP Gas-Powered Curved-Shaft String Trimmer ZR30000 (Lawn & Patio)
I received my reconditioned trimmer and mid way through the first use the string stopped advancing. I couldn't advance it by hand even though there was plenty left. I couldn't get the spool off and it took me the rest of the day to do that. I rewound the string used it but it won't advance. This string advance head is awful it is nothing like the other RYOBI I had and if I had know how ineffective it is I wouldn't have bought this model. Nothing but frustration.

This review is from: Factory Reconditioned Ryobi 17-Inch 30cc 1 HP Gas-Powered Curved-Shaft String Trimmer ZR30000 (Lawn & Patio)
Haven't run unit more than 2 times in a row without either replacing head or having to restring it which is very difficult. Other than that it won't start when warm.

Wound up throwing in the trash.

1.0 out of 5 stars Disposable - Junk, May 16, 2009

I purchased this trimmer new 2.5 years ago, and from the second time I used it, it has had difficulty starting. It takes many pulls, and then has to run in choke mode for many minutes before it decides it is able to crank up without stalling. Many times it never gets that far.

Now the orange start (choke) switch has cracked. The trimmer has never been dropped or mishandled. Ryobi's answer is (and I quote - Shaina at Ryobi customer service): "It is normal for a part required to run the device to fail after 2 and a half years of normal use." Of course, it had a 2 year warranty and they do not sell just the plastic switch - they want me to buy a new carb assembly. Gee, it's only $45 plus S&H.

This is the second Ryobi string trimmer I've owned that has failed in under 3 years of normal residential use.

4.0 out of 5 stars Ryobi 30cc 1 HP Gas user review, July 12, 2008
This review is from: Factory Reconditioned Ryobi 17-Inch 30cc 1 HP Gas-Powered Curved-Shaft String Trimmer ZR30000 (Lawn & Patio)
This items is good as it get! But, it may be difficulty for someone who'd never used the gas power. It's hard at first to get started. Once it started, it work quiet well. This items is excellent to use in small area, approx. 20x20 sq.ft. The gas power isn't quiet that loud. Juse remember, when operating this tool, it's better to wear safety glasses so that you won't get attack for flying rock and debris. Enjoy!

1.0 out of 5 stars Don't make a mistake on this trimmer, May 8, 2010
This review is from: Factory Reconditioned Ryobi 17-Inch 30cc 1 HP Gas-Powered Curved-Shaft String Trimmer ZR30000 (Lawn & Patio)
This is not only the worst trimmer I have every owned it is the worst piece of lawn equipment I have owned. I returned the first one of these only to get another one that had the same problem. Neither would run with the choke fully off no matter long they would run. They also would not run at full speed. In addition to this these things are difficult to start. You almost need 3 hands. One to hold it, another to pull the cord and another to toggle the choke back and forth. Oh, it never starts on the first few pulls either. I had to pull it so many times that half the handle on the pull start broke off. If I could fit this in my garbage can it would be in it right now.

1.0 out of 5 stars WORST outdoor product i've EVER purchased! RIPOFF!, May 6, 2010

0 stars, not 1 star! I purchased a Ryobi CS30 string trimmer brand new, and was only able to use it ONCE! It is almost impossible to start, feels heavy, and impossible to replace the string on! I've had less expensive trimmers in the past, and they all performed flawlessly for years, with minimal attention and maintenance. Ryobi needs to learn to put themselves in the position of their customers, and pay attention to how easy or difficult it is to use the product. I fumbled with the string replacement for about an HOUR trying to install it, before giving up in frustration and disgust. I'm out $100 on this P.O.S., and wouldn't even consider selling it to anyone. It's that bad.
