Reconditioned Weed Eater WT3100R - what they mean is the customer has to recondition. Most bolts & screws loose - motor assembly flopped around - cutting head would not move. Had to completely realign & reassemble & now runs fine! This is my only & last buy on the internet of a item like this!! NOTE THIS ITEM CANNOT BE RETURNED - THEY SAY!! You can refuse payment if using a credit card!! Essentially arrived as a pile of parts -
required approximately 2 1/2 hours of work to get it running!!!!

The machine was not put together correctly. The rope pull start would not grip the gear...repaired twice., either not checked at factory or needed lube. Now it will not start...I have used up one cutting string. It's been hard to start and keep running. Manual is useless to help disassemble....I found a page on the web that helped. It looks brand new...now sits at the back of my garage. If I ran your store I would not carry rennovated stuff. I'm back to my hand-held gas trimmer...it works. My wife bought this because of the wheels.

Can't say enough good things about Amazon's Customer Service. The first Weed Eater ordered was defective. The drive cable was broken, hence, the string head was inoperable. A replacement was quickly shipped at no cost to me. I purchased the wheeled Weed Eater for my wife as she can't use our hand held model. Anyway, this machine is for light duty use and performs well. It's not very robust, so if your needs are for clearing large areas of land, I would look elsewhere.

I bought my WT3000R one year ago (not through Amazon) and it has been in the shop 4 times. It was not put together correctly. Used it once and the starter pulley broke. Fixed and used once more and it quit working again. Fixed, used once again and now the throttle does not work! This is a piece of junk which is why there are so many "reconditioned" units available. They must have morons doing the reconditioning based on all the negative comments posted. I'll NEVER by Weed Eater brand again in anything. I have a Ryobi multi purpose string trimmer which has worked perfectly from the beginning and ever since.

This CADILLAC of weedeaters is awesome and the best thing since sliced bread!!! It is so easy to use and it works well, you can change the string easily and it saves time and your back. My husband bought me this for my 60th birthday - I LOVE IT!!!!!!

A friend of mine let me try out their weed eater last year, loved it so much I bought 2 one for me and one for my 91 year old mother. It's so easy to use even she loves it!!!! Very easy to start and to operate. This is the only weed eater I've ever used that I didn't look and feel like I'd been rolled in a pile of grass.

I just ordered a Factory Reconditioned WT3100. This will be our third in several years. The two previous have since broken, but only after many seasons of use. Yet, they have given us such good performance that I can't resist another. Naturally won't last forever, especially with our frequent use over our three acre yard. Even cuts the tall grasses along our 1/8th mile country driveway with no problems. Great for those of us unable to carry around tradition hand helds.. Highly recommend.

I ordered one of these for my wife. We both have bad backs and were tired of lugging around our big sthil weedeater which is a wonderful unit but it's for somebody who is younger and not disabled. UPDATE: She loves it I no longer like it. I should have posted the update sooner but my wife is the one who uses this the most. I do not like it because FOR A TALL PERSON with a bad back it does not do the job. I can't use this unit for five minutes without having to go set down. With my Sthil on a good day I can do almost 15 minutes.

She likes the fact that this unit is on wheels which means she can use it far longer than a regular weedeater.


I will be adding more to this review at a later date as I learn more about it's strengths and weaknesses. On it's first use I am very impressed.

UPDATE: I dropped this unit from five to four stars.( and then from four to three on12/4/10 ) It does not have quite the power I was expecting. We used the unit on heavy crabgrass and it did not do as good a job as my handheld Stihl does. HOWEVER.. even my Sthil has trouble with heavy crabgrass. With the Sthil I am able to turn and tilt the head to where I can get at the crabgrass better.

I originally purchased this for my wife. She wanted it to cut grass on our steeply terraced yard. I am not quite satisfied with the results but I will not blame it on this unit. I need to experiment with different methods of using it and I think I may come up with a good one.

Cutting grass on terraces has always been a problem for us. We used to use lawnboy mowers lowered on a rope until they came up with mowers that have safety switches on them. So I switched to a self propelled Lawnboy. That worked fine for me but poorly for my wife because her arms are shorter than mine. Now I am disabled and cannot work with a push mower very well. To make things worse the feds decided that my little old lawn boy mower was melting the Polar ice cap and banned the sale of replacement engines for it. If my terraces are not mowed I get more snakes and mosquitoes in my yard. All those folks who advocate letting your yard go back to nature must be people that stay inside all day long.

I'll post further updates on how this unit is working out for us.

Got Reconditioned model. Started and ran great first evening. Trimmed yard in record time. But could not start next morning. Magneto had gone bad and it's in the shop right now being repaired under warranty.

All I can say is read the review that BOB wrote its like I got the same package that he did the only thing different I almost
smack my self in the face trying to start when motor can apart
