Schneider TM's acclaimed second album Zoomer was recorded in Dirk's Berlin living room studio and released on City Slang/Mute in September 2002. Since then he has traveled Zoomer around the world playing over 130 live shows taking them to most of Europe, Japan, Brazil, and the US including a support slot on The Faint’s most recent US Tour.

Reconfigures is a collection of restyles and remixes by Schneider TM including previously unreleased and out-of-print mixes of Lamb, The Faint, Ruby, Boss Hog, Rechenzentrum, Turtle Bay Country Club, and others.

The Berlin-based duo Rechenzentrum have had a particularly strong influence on Schneider TM’s musical environment. On Reconfigures, the collaboration with Rechenzentrum saw the addition of ‘coincidental’ vocals from German indie rocker Marc Marcovic.

Improvisation is a key to Schneider's approach, so a chance to perform his Turtle Bay Country Club track live was a thrill. TBCC is of Hamburg reggae/hip-hop producer, Matthias Arfman and the line-up for Schneider TM's show in Hamburg included James Brown and Bootsy Collins drummer, Tony Cook.

Dirk's approach to Lambchop's 'The New Cobweb Summer' is a classic example of his 'versioning' technique. This mix of 'Cobweb' is definitely a summer dress. It was at a festival in Switzerland where Dirk met Lamb. After seeing Schneider TM perform, Lamb's Andy Barlow and vocalist Lou Rhodes asked Dirk to 'version' their material, the result being Schneider's remake of 'Wonder', a restyle that is exclusive to Reconfigures.

Some of these songs fail as a working whole (particularly in the 1st half) though by the end I couldn't help but appreciate such eclectic production, which makes the disc more then average.

I first heard this album at friend's party, we were all just chilling out later in the evening and I noticed that the music that was playing was pretty awesome. This is electronic mixed with indie, with a sense of playfulness, soul and songwriting. Because this cd is some kinda 'limited editon' it took me a while to find a copy...but it's nice to see that amazon now have it.
