Book Description

June 15, 1998 Stargate (Book 4)
Light-years from home, and only one step closer to hell, Stargate renegades Jack O'Neil and Daniel Jackson are plunged into an illusive paradise where an alien war could spell a mortal's doom. . .

With Hathor destroyed and her killer spaceship decimated, the Abydan refugees are awarded the privilege of first colonization. But their dream for the wilderness planet of Ballas is turned into a nightmare by a native species with a predatory instinct for survival - and a deadly ambition to win total Stargate control. Only O'Neil and Jackson can stop these armed feral warriors. But terminating their enemy's ultimate prize means destroying their own last hope of getting home alive. . .

From the Inside Flap

The Bookcassette® format is a special recording technique developed as a means of condensing the full, unabridged audio text of a book to record it on fewer tapes. In order to listen to these tapes, you will need a cassette player with balance control to adjust left/right speaker output. Special adaptors to allow these tapes to be played on any cassette player are available through the publisher or some US retail electronics stores.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent book, June 26, 1998
By A Customer
This book is very good in that shows the problems that each of the characters face in colonization of this new planet. It also shows that although some of the characters were trying to overthrow each other in the end they all work together to work for the one cause, survival!

4.0 out of 5 stars I enjoyed the play of the characters and their growth, May 28, 1998
By A Customer
What I really enjoyed about this book is the fact that it showed the growth of the characters and how it takes a lot of hard work to make or break a relationship. Daniel still has problems relating to his wife Sha'uri and visa versa. I liked when Skaara made her realize what her attitude had done in relation to hurting their people. In some respects it is like a soap opera: are they going to get together or not. The cliffhanger at the end of the book makes you wonder will Daniel and Sha'uri work things out before it is to late. They seem to prove the adage that falling in love is easy, staying in love is hard work.

4.0 out of 5 stars left me at the cliff, March 31, 1999
By A Customer
Good portrayal of government bureaucracy and misguided and mismanaged projects egged on by publicity and hidden agendas. It is the only Stargate book I have listened on the audiobook (I haven't listened or read the other ones in the series), so I don't know what went on between Daniel and Sha'uri in the first two books, but the characterization was well fleshed out. Then the .... Cliffhanger! What will happen to the Abydonians and the contact with the Cat-people on their newly colonized world??? Is there a sequel?? I can't wait.
