Zero dB are the go-to guys from jazz-inflected Brazilian breaks, and this compilation of remixes shows why, from the quick rhythm and mutant jazz redo of Sun Ra's "Satellites are Spinning" to the more straightforward and bass-heavy mix of Peace Orchestra's "Henry." Gotta love that trumpet on there! The track that first brought them to wide notice, their take of the Trüby Trio's "Galicia" as are two mixes done under their 'Electric Eclectic' alias, one of which turns the vocals of Original Soulboy's "Touch the Sun" into a scat, while going more electro for Acme's "Hangovers." They leave more of Suba's "Samba do Gringo" intact, but the Brazilian influence comes out in full force (no surprise, considering the source material; the same goes for Grupo Batuque's "E Ruim"). They also take that Brazilian rhythm and set it into a techno setting, as with Interfearance's "Xtradition," but can also do traditional electro-jazz themselves, as "Future Vision," originally by John Kong & Moonstarr, shows. Eclectic and exciting overall.
