This review is from: For the Record: An Oral History of Rochester, NY, Newsworkers (Communications and Media Studies, 6) (Paperback)
A well written, if somewhat academic, review of newspaper publication...when reporters and editors were hard drinking and totally committed to their work, community and getting out the news. I worked for the Rochester Democrat & Chronicle as a cub reporter and was delighted to find references to some of the lions of the newsroom and, also, sadly, to the second-class status of woman reporters in those days. I would heartedly recommend the book to those who study journalism and those that may not fully understand the meaning and importance of the printed news and views.
