5.0 out of 5 stars Superb soundtrack better than most Hollywood fare
I just love this album. This was a great story and one I watch again and again. I recommend not just getting the soundtrack, but also buying the DVD of the show as well. "Parn's Theme" is probably my favorite track, though it is hard to narrow down just one song that is great. The whole thing is meant to be taken as one story set to music. The only other...

The only other soundtracks I have which are like this are "Symphonic Suite Yamato" from Space Battleship Yamato, "Conan the Barbarian" which correctly follows the film by the same name and lastly "Dragonheart" from the same titled film. These CDs all bring the film to your heart as you listen.

They are best listened to in a darkened room with your eyes closed. Let the music just take you away and I guarantee you will be happy.

Don't wait just order this CD.

Jim

5.0 out of 5 stars Never regret this purchase, March 1, 2004

^_^

I originally wanted to buy this CD because of the 2 vocal songs. I don't have this CD in import version, but I got it in domestic version.

So anyway, this CD is really good. A lot better than I thought it would be. I watched the OAV series years ago, and I hardly remember the music except for the opening and ending theme. Which what brought me the reasons I bought this CD in the first place. It's very enchanting, and it's so relaxing. I own a lot of other CDs, and this is one of those rare CDs where I play it constanty from time to time. If you like fantasy/classical type music, this CD is for you.

By the way, this is the Japanese import that you guys are looking at. Judging from the anime music trends (especially those game music CDs), anime CDs tends to OOP (out of print) after a couple of years and NEVER TO BE FOUND FOR SALE AGAIN. If you complain about the price now, you probably wouldn't like the price when you try to find this CD again (unless you bought the fake SM/Everanime copy).

5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful!, April 28, 2001
This review is from: Record Of Lodoss War: Original Soundtrack (1990 Anime Video Series) (Audio CD)
I got this CD for Christmas cuz I put it on my Wish List, I had never seen Lodoss War before(And still haven't though I want to) and had only heard 1 song: Kiseki no Umi. Turns out that song wasn't even on there yet I'm still in love with the CD, most of it is the backgrond music from the series, but there are 2 0r 3 vocals. Thoses vocals alone are enough to make me adore this CD, and should be enough to persuade you to buy it. Truly beautiful. Highly Recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars First rate anime soundtrack, January 21, 2008
This review is from: Record Of Lodoss War: Original Soundtrack (1990 Anime Video Series) (Audio CD)
The original Record of Lodoss War series is far and away my favorite anime series. I'm a fan of fantasy fiction, so the sword and sorcery storyline and band of heroes in the Lodoss series captured me right from the start. The series also benefits from one of the finest soundtracks I've ever heard. The grand epic symphonic score suits the storyline perfectly, providing the ideal background music to Parn and company's quest. It also works as wonderful background music when you're reading a fantasy novel or Lodoss manga.

This is the first volume in a 3 CD series, so it's not a complete soundtrack for the series. It includes most of the musical passages featured in the early episodes - the goblin invasion of Parn's village, the heroes' trek through the dwarven halls, the conflict with the dragon, etc. - but not the epic battle music associated with Ashram, Vagnard, and Shooting Star. That music comes on later installments. This CD also includes the opening and closing theme songs - in Japanese of course.

I can't say enough good things about this soundtrack series. As much as I love the Final Fantasy Tactics soundtrack, the Neon Genesis Evangelion music and John Williams' original Star Wars score, the three volumes of the original Record of Lodoss War soundtrack are my absolute favorites. Fans of the anime should definitely check them out, even though they're not that easy to find these days.

5.0 out of 5 stars The perfect epic music, November 8, 2001

This soundtrack is an excellent set of epic, heroic and medieval songs. The 'Fantasia of the wind' takes you to a different atmosphere of heroes and adventures while 'Flame & Eternity' takes you to a medieval world full of romanticism.

I loved the series Record of Lodos War. I went on the web to find the music from it though. I do love the music from it. My favorite songs are "Honor," "Parn's Theme," and "Dance Party at Valis." I also love "Song of the Elf." If you loved the series, I suggest that you pick up this CD.

5.0 out of 5 stars Record of Lodoss Soundtrack, August 7, 2000

The definitive anime soundtrack, in my opinion. I listen to it all the time when playing EverQuest and it still fits beautifully. If you like good music and don't have this CD, GET IT NOW! I can't say enough good things about this, or the anime it comes from. Since watching this anime and hearing this soundtrack, I can't find any more that can belly up to the bar with it! Again, BUY THIS CD if you like good music.

This CD is excellent, I have listened to it many times over and love each and every track. Then going back and watching the DVD really let's you hear where each of the songs are in the Anime. However if you are going to buy it do not get it from Amazon I found the same CD NEW at ... and saved at least $... one each of the Record of Lodoss War CDs.

4.0 out of 5 stars RLW soundtrack, August 8, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Record Of Lodoss War: Original Soundtrack (1990 Anime Video Series) (Audio CD)
I've always loved the series and have wanted the music. I have been quite pleased with the cd but wish it had some of the other music from the series on it. Most of my other soundtrack cds have these extras or bonuses on it, but the RLW doesn't. The guitar that deedlit is playing and when the bard singing is not on it. Other that those two examples I have enjoyed the cd. If you're wanting the cd for the music in general then I would get it, if you're seeking the extras I wouldn't.
