Pretty Disappointing,
By Jack Reynolds (Southwest Virginia) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Mel Bay Recorder Book of Medieval & Renaissance Music (Sheet music)
I found this book to be disappointing at best. I usually like the more formal, liturgical sounding music, but these were not the best songs in that genre. While I liked one or two of the songs out of the book, I thought most of them were simple, pathetically easy, and boring. If you're looking for some good, challenging music for the recorder, I'd suggest Mel Bay's Celtic Tunes for the Recorder instead of this.

None of the music is common time,
By A Customer
This review is from: Mel Bay Recorder Book of Medieval & Renaissance Music (Sheet music)
For a beginner this is not the way to go. Most of the music is supposed to be like chants that are not common time and don't keep a beat, all ad-lib. If you're looking for a tempo'd music, go for the book with the hand drums and dances.
