Product Description

Amazon.com Product Description

No, they don't put phono inputs on too many components anymore. And no, you can't plug your turntable into any old audio input. But you can use Recoton's affordable and compact SP-2 outboard phono preamplifier to give your trusty record spinner a new lease on life. Just plug your turntable's left/right RCA outputs into the SP-2, fix your turntable's ground wire somewhere on a grounded component, run a stereo analog audio interconnect between the SP-2 and your audio/video receiver or computer system, and you're ready to start enjoying the wonders of analog stereo once again.

The SP-2 applies the necessary RIAA (Record Industry Association of America) equalization curve and boosts the signal level to standard consumer line levels. Handy mounting slots let you bolt the device to the back of your receiver or entertainment case.

What's in the Box
Phono preamp, power adapter, and a data sheet.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good value, December 19, 2003

I'm using this pre-amp to connect a turntable to a computer for burning records to CD. The sound is decent especially for the price. (Putting an equalizer between the pre-amp and the computer really helps to sound quality of those old records.)

To eliminate the AC hum make sure that you have a good ground connection (connect it to the chassis of something with a 3-prong power cord).

4.0 out of 5 stars Vinyl is King, February 11, 2004
By A Customer

It's great to be listening to my old vinyl after 20 years. One channel of the preamp quit working once but I unplugged the power for a couple of days and it worked again.

5.0 out of 5 stars A fine product, April 7, 2003

I bought this product about four years ago and have never had a problem with it. It boosts the signal from my record player to my shelf stereo with no problems at all. The other reviewer must have gotten a dud.
