5.0 out of 5 stars Outstanding Translation
I ordered this Bible a few weeks ago and I am happy to say, "I love it!"

This is perhaps the most accurate and precise translation I have ever read. It reminds me quite a bit of the OLD American Standard Version (1901), but without the archaic language. The translators have followed the Hebrew and Greek very closely, and because of this many...

3.0 out of 5 stars Footnotes Not Included
I bought the Recovery Version New Testament 2-3 years ago and was pleased to find out that the Old Testament translation was soon to be published as well. I assumed there would be footnote and study pages for the Old Testament version as there had been for the New Testament. When I received my Bible, I was disappointed to find out that there are no footnotes at all for...

I ordered this Bible a few weeks ago and I am happy to say, "I love it!"

This is perhaps the most accurate and precise translation I have ever read. It reminds me quite a bit of the OLD American Standard Version (1901), but without the archaic language. The translators have followed the Hebrew and Greek very closely, and because of this many things are brought into the light that other translations - especially the dynamic equivalence versions - have missed.

Also, I am not a member of the Local Church movement, but I do appreciate the writings of Watchman Nee. I haven't read enough of Witness Lee's writings to form an opinion as of yet. The Recovery Version Bible that I have does not contain Mr. Lee's study notes. All this said, I am still very impressed with the precision and accuracy of this translation. It is truly outstanding. My only wish is that the publishers would offer it in a premium leather, such as calfskin or cowhide, rather than just bonded.

If you are a pure-hearted truth-seeking Christian, you would easily agree this is a real masterpiece of Bible translation and interpretation, which reveals many hidden devine thoughts in understandable language. It'll be the biggest loss in your quest for Bibilical truths, if you passed this book just because someone left a bad review with a purpose to defame the author. My suggestion is stay open-minded and experience yourself the riches in this book in an unbiased way. It will withstand the most stringent scrutiny and, more importantly, nourish your hungry spirit beyond your expectation. Enjoy it!

5.0 out of 5 stars This is a fantastic book!, July 27, 2003

Like most people who have read and reviewed this Bible, I love this version because it is an accurate and clear translation. The couple of disenting reviews does not appear to represent the book in anyway. Perhaps those reviewers need to actually have read the book before they write their reviews? This book is simply a faithful translation of the Bible, the Word of God. It is a Bible I have come to love and enjoy. Anyone saying that it is full of "original" thoughts/philosophies of a particular man must be joking or must be completely ignorant of the Bible- or else he would have inevitably noticed how closely the Recovery Version follows the Greek/Hebrew original text, word for word, not more, not less. How is a translation of God's Word so exact a particular individual's personal thought/philosophy? No proper believer can say that without offending his conscience. God's Word is not W. Lee's word, mot anyone's word ... but simply, God's Word, His rich and supplying Word. This is how I feel whenever I read this Bible and I testify to it. Hallelujah!
I rarely bother to write reviews for products I use - but I love this one enough to go through the trouble. I really enjoy this simple and faithful translation. The book has helped me enjoy and get to know the Lord. It is truly enjoyable and accurate. It is truly a gift and a blessing from the Lord. I am SO grateful!

5.0 out of 5 stars Clear understanding, December 15, 2002

The Holy Bible - Recovery Version is the most clear interpretation of God's Word in clear english and yet not compromising in its translation. I have been studying the Bible for Over 24 years and have used many different versions. This version truly recovers and reveals the spoken Word as recorded by men inspired of God. Where translations vary for certain verses or words, there are clear footnotes indicating the other possible meanings and root meanings. The literal meanings of certain key words are also presented. It is a pure translation from a true steward of God's Word.

5.0 out of 5 stars I love and treasure this Bible, December 12, 2002

If you see strong likes and dislikes regarding any matter, you know there must be something deep within, especially when it comes to the matter of interpreting God's Words.

Let's first go back to the history a little bit. In the year 1385 when John Wycliffe translated the Bible into English from the Latin Vulgate, he suffered intense persecution. He was expelled from his teaching position at Oxford, and 44 years after he died, the Pope ordered his bones exhumed and burned. Intense persecution stamped out his followers and teachings. One of the reasons that all those happened is because of his translation.

God's Words bring light, life and nourishment to all His genuine seekers through a healthy interpretation from the original languages. The Devil certainly does not want to see this happen. That is why he stimulated many malicious minds to damage and deframe those who endeavor to spread God's Words and gospel.

I have many versions of Bible in English in front of me, and I have to tell from my conscience and experiences that the Recovery Version is the one that I treasured most. I have been enlightened and nourished by God's Words and the healthy interpretation in this easy-to-understand translation.

God bless you in the name of our dear Lord Jesus!

5.0 out of 5 stars It's the best!, January 4, 2004

I use this all the time! It's the only one I have read since I came to owning it. I am a High Schooler and there are many things that I don't understand. With this version I was able to understand what is being said. I belive that it is easier to read than some I have read, and I enjoy it very much :-)

This is the best Bible translation I have ever had the opportunity to read. I read in four different languages and so far this is the best, translated and interpreted Bible I have had in any language. I investigated a lot before I started meeting with the church in my city. Every accusation I encountered was either flat out a lie or a result of blindness. It troubles me that God's children are deprived from such reaches that are in the ministry of Witness Lee. We all have been gifted with a mind. If a seeking person utilizes his or her mind with an open spirit he will see what I saw in the Bible when it is opened the way it is in the Recovery version. Just read it with an open being!
Most of what is said about brother Lee or the Recovery version is not the stand of the church.

5.0 out of 5 stars For above divisionism Scripture Thirsty students, November 1, 2006
This review is from: Recovery Bible-OE (Leather Bound)
The more I learn Greek and Hebrew, the more I read bible versions in different languages, the more I am convinced this is the very best version ever! Not only in terms of dinamic/formal equivalence balance. Also in terms of considering the Bible as a whole, as the work of one only and the same author! The outlines show a unique understanding of the bible's unity, hardly ever before shown by scholars who study it book by book, making in practice the Holy Spirit's authorship nothing more than a theoretical Systematic Theology construct. The outlines and footnotes(on the edition with footnotes) show an understanding of the revelation and a uniformity in principles of interpretation far above the Reformed/Non-reformed/Orthodox, Calvinism/Arminianism, Trinitarianism/Unitarianism, and other usual so-called stalemates of organized Christendom. It is the Bible for the centered christian and student who looks far above the divisionism of the Body of Christ. When I write this, I am but simply checking with the whole of Christian scholarship.

5.0 out of 5 stars A really accurate Bible version, September 4, 2002
This review is from: Recovery Bible-OE (Leather Bound)
I really recommend this Bible to all Christians. This Bible is the most accurate version compared with the others. It also contains outline in every book of the Bible, which is helpful for understanding.
I also recommend the New Testament Bible (Recovery Version) published by the Living Stream Ministry.
