5.0 out of 5 stars Use This Handbook to Help With Your Recovery, February 13, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: The Recovery Handbook: The Guidebook and Information Manual of Twelve Step Program Recovery (Paperback)
I came across this book while working at a D&A rehab facility. A co-worker had it and let me borrow it. I was very impressed with the book...its contents and its layout. It's very user friendly and promotes recovery through the 12 step program. Not only does it help one to work through the 12 steps, it helps promote ways to stay on track with their program through dealing with issues that led to drug or alcohol abuse, having healthy relationships, nutrition conducive to recovery, etc. It actually seems like it would be helpful for overcoming many different types of addiciton. Plus, it promotes understanding and awareness for a recovering person's friends and family. I hope this review is helpful. I was very impressed with all the information and the process that the handbook leads the reader through - that's why I decided to purchase my own copy. Best wishes to you!

5.0 out of 5 stars A must for every clinician, January 4, 2009

This review is from: The Recovery Handbook: The Guidebook and Information Manual of Twelve Step Program Recovery (Paperback)
I recommend this book to both new and experienced clinicians. For the new A & D counselor who is not in recovery, this book gives the clearest understanding of 12 step programs that I have found. For more experienced clinicians, you will find yourself assigning chapters to your clients to read. The chapter on relationships is the best reading assignment on the topic I've come across. Every counselor should have this book as part of their library.
