An excellent introductory book to the swinging lifestyle. Patti provides an indepth look at swinging from not only a sexual view but emotional and spiritual viewpoints. Ms. Thomas addresses the issues of jealousy, fear of the first time, meeting people and placing ads in one of several mediums and not solely her own. She also addresses two key aspects regarding women and swinging.
One, the feelings of being forced into the lifestyle by husbands/partners and being told to wear revealing clothing at parties/resorts that don't make them feel comfortable. Two, the lack of information and resources for women interested in swinging either alone or with the husband/partner. She is dead on when she states that many more women would be interested in swinging if given proper education from society and positive support from their husbands/partners. I STRONGLY RECOMMEND THIS BOOK FOR WOMEN INTERESTED IN SWINGING AND FOR MEN WHO ARE CONSIDERING OPENING UP THEIR MARRIAGE TO EITHER SWINGING, POLYAMORY OR SWAPPING.

I wanted to write and tell you that I was impressed with your book. It think it was very well written and to the point. We also found it to be extremely helpful in addressing some issues that we were working thru. Let me say at this point that I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in the state of Florida, and a National Certified Counselor. We have been in the lifestyle for only three years and I consider us still to be kind of "newbies." I found your book to be very useful in opening up helpful dialogues and to give various "permissions" to examine issues in a "defense-free" manner. For that gift I thank you. We were delighted to find this book! We've toyed with the idea of swinging for awhile now, but were not sure what type of people were involved or what to expect if we could find a club to attend. Some other books we found were primarily accounts of the author's sexual activities with other people, while we were searching for helpful advice & information for nervous beginners. Reading this book together helped immensely by making it easier for us to discuss sensitive topics. While we still haven't made a decision yet on swinging, all of our discussions about it sure helped spice up our own sexual activities!

We really enjoyed reading Recreational Sex, the information given was very helpful toward our decision to "join" the lifestyle. It answered alot of questions we had, and with the information at hand it helped us avoid any embarrassing situations with our first encounter. Patti Thomas is truly the "Queen of Swing"!

Although the bias behind this book is well intentioned, I found its overall poor writing (and excessive use of exclamation points) to be distracting from the main point. There's little here that couldn't be figured out from some dedicated browsing of the net, and the brevity of the book is irritating given its exceedingly high price. In all, well intentioned but a failure.

Everyone who enters the silent subculture of the 'LifeStyle' begins somewhere. And everyone in the 'LifeStyle' encounters people who have questions. This book helps both situations. We were lucky enough to meet Patti and she is as REAL as her book. We use this book as a way to give information to potential 'LifeStylers' in a non-pressure setting. No one should ever attempt to force this issue on anyone. Generally, if a couple makes the choice to enter the 'LifeStyle', they've made the right choice. And likewise, when a couple makes a decision not to take this step, it's the right decision for them. Patti's book is the first step to let a couple know that they are not the only ones with these erotic, arrousing, thoughts. And the intense pleasures of strange flesh are just beyond the pages of the book.

I can't imagine anyone better than Patti Thomas to have written a book of this magnitude. Informative, funny, insightful and imminently helpful to "newbies" as well as "old hands" in "the lifestyle," this book offers answers to questions you might never have known you had. Why do we do it? Answered. When and where do we do it? Answered. How can you become involved, whether you're a single or a couple? Answered.

Perhaps best of all, Thomas' down-to-earth style makes the forbidden easy to understand.

The book is a delightful read and would make an excellent addition to any library encompassing "alternative" sexuality.

Frankly, after reading Thomas work, I can't imagine why everyone isn't swinging! You go, girl -- and do everything you can to take the rest of us with you!

The thin book covers, somewhat superficially for my tastes, issues relevant to swinging. I found it to be less titillating than I expected from an educated woman whose sexuality leaves mine repressed and in the dust. However, the book reads as if a one hour seminar on swinging, including a glossary and addresses to get you started. While this information is on the web, it was reassuring to hear it from a woman who could pass as your mother, but who is trying to sheparding her flock through the perils of an intolerant public. While the experiences of a couple of people aren't likely to reveal the full scope of a "lifestyle" the book provides a positive perspective.

If swinging is something youre thinking of exploringyou really need to start with this excellent book! There are many questions and concerns anyone thinking about swinging is obviously faced with, wouldnt it be great if your best friend had the experience to share their knowledge with you on the subject? With this very easy to read and informative book youll no doubt find that best friend in Patti Thomas. Patti has managed to add enough sizzle to be exciting while still being able to impart some very critical information for those interested in a much more open-minded lifestyle. Patti has always had her finger on the pulse of sexual excitement and she is certainly not shy about sharing her knowledge of the lifestyle with others. I know of no one else more qualified, or who can bring their knowledge of this subject to an audience better then Patti Thomas.

We just finished Patti's book and think it should be required reading for anyone interested in the swinging lifestyle! Her style is warm & honest; her advice is down to earth & appropriate. We enjoyed it immensely, & would recommend it to anyone who is curious about the swinging lifestyle. The eight pages of color photos were an added bonus we really liked!
