5.0 out of 5 stars Dream Gems, May 23, 2004

This review is from: Recurring Dream Symbols: Maps to Healing Your Past (Paperback)
Kathleen Sullivan's newest book, Recurring Dream Symbols:Maps to Healing Your Past, reads like a series of short stories. These stories are deceptively simple. I found that I needed to gently remind myself to slow down, so as not to miss the many gems that are discovered within each dream story. I enjoyed playing dream detective, along with the dreamers and Ms. Sullivan, as they explored the dreams. Ms. Sullivan expresses through her writing who she is and how she teaches. By example, she teaches us how to be dream explorers. And throughout the book, each dreamer proves that we can HEAL ourselves by paying attention to recurring dreams.

4.0 out of 5 stars Sheds Light on Recurring Dreams, May 16, 2004
By

This review is from: Recurring Dream Symbols: Maps to Healing Your Past (Paperback)
Kathleen Sullivan has done an excellent job on a subject that is relatively untouched in the dream field. Not only does she make sense of the hugely different dream series she worked with but she provides an articulate and highly readable overview of what recurring dreams may be trying to help us work through or heal, AND fantastic guidelines for people to begin identifying and working with recurring dream symbols of their own.

It was especially intriguing to me to see, as both a reader and a person with a recurring dream series of my own, that working through a dream series is not necessarily a linear process. The whole idea that change and awareness takes place on many different levels at different times, and is not a simple progression from "A" to "B" to enlightened being.

This is a breakthrough book on the subject of recurring dreams and is a good read for anyone interested in dreams -- whether yours are repeating or not!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great book!, May 11, 2004

This review is from: Recurring Dream Symbols: Maps to Healing Your Past (Paperback)
This is a wonderful book for people who take their dreams seriously and want to understand them. The heart of the book is the 14 case studies (ten women and four men) whose work on their recurring dreams with the author led them to transform their lives in very positive and inspiring ways. And I found it very interesting and valuable that in these case studies nearly every dream symbol imaginable is discussed and interpreted. In the last fifteen years I have read a lot of books on dreams and this may be the best of them. I highly recommend it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant Dream Work, June 2, 2004
This review is from: Recurring Dream Symbols: Maps to Healing Your Past (Paperback)
I highly recommend Recurring Dream Symbols by Kathleen Sullivan. This book provides techniques that one can immediately apply to their own dream material. Ms. Sullivan, through her excellent teaching and well written book, allows us to witness the growth experienced by 4 men and 10 women dreamers. Her knowledge and passion for dream work is evident in the clarity of her writing, variety of approaches and brilliant dream weaving.

I learned by participating in a dream group the value of paying attention to other people's dreams. As you read Recurring Dream Symbols I have no doubt you will recognize and be able to own for yourself much of the material presented.

5.0 out of 5 stars The dream that keeps giving, April 16, 2007
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Recurring Dream Symbols: Maps to Healing Your Past (Paperback)
This is one of the best dream books I have read and I have read lots. The author writes in a clear, interesting style that makes it hard to put her work down until you eyes demand a rest. After reading the book I realized that I have been having repetitve dreams for years but had not noticed them as there were not identical. The book will also help you make the paradign shift form seeing repeated figures as representations of characterizations of yourself that need attending to and not get sidetracked by mistaken literalim.
