4.0 out of 5 stars Recyled and Rejuvenated, June 10, 2007

Edgar Winter has always been a record company's nightmare. Why - because he is just such a damn good musician and singer. He can cover just about any genre of music with conviction and creativity. White Trash was always his best vehicle as it put him in charge of a rockin' R&B horn band with the added pleasure of a second powerful lead singer, Jerry Lacroix. The group unfortunately only lasted for two records which left me and alot of fans wanting for more. This record appeared in the late '70's and went vitually unnoticed. The rhythm section gets a funkin' update with an obvious nod to Tower of Power, and Edgar and Jerry pick up where they left off with their double-barreled soul singing tour de force. Their are a couple of less than stellar moments, but "Leftover Love" and "Stickin' it Out" just smoke with Edgar singing and playing his tail off. Jerry gives his all on "In and Out of Love Blues". For me this record/CD is a must have if you have any musical interest in great R&B with a blusey edge.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Rare Gemstone, January 11, 2004
This review is from: Recycled (Audio CD)
If you can get your hands on this album by all means...
It has some of Edgar's best work.Leftover Love is great to listen to while your out driving on a hot summer day with the windows rolled down.Stickin It Out was the single from this album and it should have gotten lots more attention as the music is a ray of sunlight.Parallel Love is some of the best early smooth jazz I have ever heard, a great romantic tune to listen to with that special some one.
Puttin It Back reminds me of Old Trash and is a great beginning. The In And Out Of Love Blues is a classy blues number which will have you wishing it never ended.
A must buy for any fan of Edgar.
Shake It Off is hillarious as it seems to be White Trash's answer to the then dance craze.

5.0 out of 5 stars White Trash Recycled yields gold !, April 13, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Recycled (Audio CD)
This re-gathering of the White Trash is a super energized, funky, bluesy reunion of some great musicians. Super quality production still holds up today. Jerry Lacroix and Edgars voices and sax playing lite a fire under the music and listeners backside. As always, so incredibly tight and well arranged music. This is not Edgar leading the band, but Edgar as an excellent musician and singer along with all the rest of the band. "Shake it" is a great tight funk-blues song which features the excellent soloing and musicianship of the band.....This'll have you movin' in the livinroom!! Edgar - quality music and a quality guy as well!!

Purchased this in vinyl back in '78, and never went back to heavy metal.

Great tunes, energetic playing and powerful vocals by some of finest musicians ever. The overall quality of this release still amazes me.

Edgar Winter is a master of tasteful arrangements and leads the second coming of his best band in a manner that remains unsurpassed. The first White Trash album is also a timeless classic full of songs that will endure. Highly recommended.

Man, I looked for this CD for years, even in vinyl, but it was out of print.
Takes over right where the first studio White Trash LP left off. Even has Floyd Radford on guitar.
White Trash was a phenominal band that never got the recognition it deserved IMHO. If you are an Edgar fan this title is a must for you.
Only reason I would give it a 4.5 was that a lot of the songs sound strikingly similar format wise to the first LP (although the fidelity is tons better)
It's a shame there wasn't more of a market for this type of music back then, and what market there was, belonged to Tower of Power, Blood, Sweat and Tears, and Paul Butterfield Band.
Edgar tried to be a bit more commercial than those bands, but unfortunately it seems most of his big commercial fans wanted Frankenstein

5.0 out of 5 stars One Of The Best Edgar Winter Albums!, March 19, 2006

Now I enjoy Edgar Winter's commercial rock stuff like "Frankenstein",even if it is pretty bloated. But the 1977 recording 'Recycled' features everything that makes Edgar Winter such a great talent.White Trash are his most musically diverse and talened outfit to be sure and more modern artists like Prince must have been listening very closely because at it's core 'Recycled'is all about the groove, musical and lyrical freedom. If you want to get to the basics of it 'Recycled' is Edgar Winter's 70's funk album-with rhythms that stay on the one, some smooth grooves and plently of hot horns and clavinet riffing."Puttin' It Back","Shake It Off","Stickin' It Out","Open Up" and the closing jam "Competition" are all superb examples. All of them have great group singing but Edgar's own unique vocal gymnastics are the part I find most impressive.Of course Edgar Winter/White Trash are diverse enough to add one pop oriented (if like minded) tune with the catchy "Leftover Love"-to most people that could be the strongest tune here. And of course "New Wave" has that same crazy gospel touch that made White Trash so enjoyable in the first place. For lovers of slower, less manic music "Paralell Love" is an extremely strong example-showing off great vocal harmonies and arrangements and (like everything else here) filled with great soulful sax wailing from Winter himself!"The In And Out Of Love Blues" is a good genre excersise but in my opinion even the blues pieces on Winter's brilliant debut 'Entrance' sounded like mere attempts to emulate his older brother Johnny and isn't too convincing.Edgar Winter is far more at home with funk, soul, rock and jazz then he is with roadhouse R&B and blues but this is still a good song. Why 'Recyled' is out of print domestically is unknown to me.But personally the way I see it is this-I love Rick Derringer and especially the late/great Dan Hartman but Edgar Winter with White Trash and as a solo artist is brilliant, gifted and innovative but is hopelessly indulgent, loud and commercial with The Edgar Winter Group. It's pretty clear for people who understand music that soulful grooves and jams as well as jazzier ones are Edgar Winter's forte and his writing and vocal style are more comfortable in those areas. So to anyone who does (or wants) to understand that simple truth I highly recommend 'Recycled'.
