My thoughts on The Recycling of Rosalie,
By D. Cheree (San Francisco, California) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Recycling of Rosalie (Novel) (Paperback)
I have much respect for Patricia McLaine,so when I heard about her new novel I didn't hesitate to purchase a copy. I thoroughly enjoyed the book. It was interesting that I received the book just before my mother unexpectantly made her transition to the other side. I was also in one of those periods where I didn't want to read anything related to spirituality or metaphysics. This humorous and enlightening little novel was just what the doctor ordered. The perspective of how life is after you die and the hope that it offers to those left behind is and can be uplifting, provided you have an open mind. Despite the fact that this was written as a novel it's clear to me that Patricia weaved into the story her own personal beliefs, and in doing so sets the stage for readers to re-think life, death and reincarnation. Additionally, I think that the book is written such that with minor edits on a parents part, it could be read as a bed time story to children. Particularly if the parent has been wanting to introduce this subject to a child and didn't know quite how. Simply Delightful. Thanks Pattie. Well done!

Entertaining and Thought Provoking!,
By booharrison@erols.com (Washington, DC) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Recycling of Rosalie (Novel) (Paperback)
I found The Recycling of Rosalie to be both entertaining and thought provoking! It was a fun read that was hard to put down. In fact, I finished it in one day! The characters were memorable and very easy to visualize; I especially loved Rosalie's attitude throughout her entire experience. She's quite a hoot! Patricia McLaine really made me think about the spiritual realm. And although the book is fiction (I think! [sic]), she even managed to answer some of the questions on the subject that have long bounced around inside my head. McLaine convincingly drives home the "What goes around comes around" principle. This book is one of publishing's best kept secrets; it should be enjoyed by all!

You'll want More of Rosalie,
By Maggie from MD (Jessup, MD) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Recycling of Rosalie (Novel) (Paperback)
I loved this book. It gives such insight into what might come when we die. It also explains how life here on earth can be a lot more productive if we would only use our senses and belief in a higher power to the max. It makes you laugh, cry and think. Rosalie is delightful and in love...which lasts forever. Get the book, and also give it as a gift.

A pure delightful and amusing mix of spiritual enlightenment.,

This review is from: The Recycling of Rosalie (Novel) (Paperback)
The Recycling of Rosalie is an interweaving of love, hope, faith and spirituality that takes place on earth and in the after life. Rosalie the main character dies in a very comical way although I won't spoil the book for others by saying how. Rosalie at first has no clue she is dead and only remembers that last thing she was doing before she died. When a priest named Father Timothy sent to guide her breaks the bad news Rosalie is happy as a clam. Rosalie is a non-practicing Jewish girl and quite the talker, her positive get it done attitude being what got her killed to begin with, helps her quickly adjust to the after-life. She soon finds out she has everything she has ever dreamed of plus much more. Part of the much more includes her soul-mate a hottie named Manuel who she quickly finds attractive and doesn't waste any time in getting to know. Manuel has been waiting for Rosalie in this paradise and she soon finds out she has a connection with him for eternity, leaving her to forget her marriage and husband David left behind. Father Timothy begins to show Rosalie what David's life has been like since her death, but she is not to concerned. However this changes later when Rosalie quickly learns she is not on earth time any more and David has moved on, this leaves Rosalie emotionally distraught. I love the character of Rosalie, she has the personality of a spunky lady who kept me laughing throughout this whole book. Father Timothy a more reserved soul tends to loosen up as he is just as thrilled by Rosalie's energy, even if she does have a slip of the tongue every so often, causing a disruption of his energy field. You feel so much joy for Rosalie at times and also sadness when she and Manuel must make some choices for the sake of family members left behind on the earth plane. A very unique fictional portrayal of what could happen in a life after death situation, McLaine kept me entertained from beginning to end, including the most adorable ending of any book I have ever read.

A novel sui generis,
This review is from: The Recycling of Rosalie (Novel) (Paperback)
McLaine sure knows how write a unique plot - and a brilliantly clever one at that! The protagonist Rosalie is funny, very funny, charming and human. The reader gets to follow Rosalie to the other side and it is through her perspective on the other side that the story unfolds. I love this novel.

From beginning to end, you can't wait to turn to the next page. The characters are so enchanting and you find yourself wishing that you could meet them all, especially Father Timothy. In such a short tome, there is drama, tears, laughter, romance and a delightful glimpse of a place we'd all like to see.
