**Update: Although I had initially turned off my WiFi early this morning to test OFFLINE play, and it seemed to go along with it, when I just now turned off WiFi to shoot my video review (so I don't get mail bings during recording), when I tried to open up the game, it told me that an internal service error occurred due to lack of Internet Connectivity while the game loaded up and began in the background. When I hit okay, it simply closes out of the app altogether. It may just be a bug because if in truth it does ENFORCE ONLINE PLAY, I would certainly knock another star.

Any feedback whether you can indeed play offline (or not) is welcomed to determine if this is a glitch or intended.**

A simple, fast paced game that is purely reaction time based, RED BALL RUN has a name that aptly describes the entire experience. You may even find yourself chanting "Red Run" in a creepy falsetto as you watch your ball get popped over and over.

Network Access: Uses Amazon GameCircle leaderboards, and the new High Score popup from GameCircle may get a little irritating. Also a [More Games] direct link to the Amazon App Store with a slew of randomly listed games (wonder what the dev used as the link criteria).

Portrait only orientation with a main menu [Quit] button that exits cleanly (back-key does not work). Small game in size, about 17mbs fully installed, but a surprisingly large RAM footprint, spiking upwards at a 120 megabytes usage. Must be the FMODx sound and Unity-based graphics, which seems kind of wasted on such a simple game design as this.

Gameplay is uber simplistic. Tap left or right on the screen to guide your ball through a randomly generated spike field, releasing to center the ball.

3.0 out of 5 stars A simple app that is very repetitive! August 14, 2014
Verified Purchase
The game is simple to play as you touch the left or right side of the screen to move the red ball left or right into the left or right track. If you release the screen the ball rolls down the center track of the screen. As the ball moves forward barriers with spikes appear ahead and you have to maneuver around them or the ball is popped. Along the way gold coins are on one of the paths and you should try to collect them. You will find doing so and trying to keep the ball from being popped is not easy. It sounds easy to play but it is not! The app only plays in the portrait mode.

The barriers get closer and closer together and they begin to appear in sets of two so the difficulty increases. The main screen has a play more games button the takes you to the Amazon app store with the ability to purchase apps. Make sure that your parental guidelines are turned on and you limit that ability to purchase items. There is an exit button on the main screen.

While simple and cute the app is very repetitive and because of that it is not much fun. It does not contain any adware or malware and it is safe to download.

Permissions:
* full network access
* view network connections

The app includes Amazon Insights which is an analytics program that can monitor your game play and the app software. There are limited permissions in the app so it is not gathering any critical personal data.

3.0 out of 5 stars "Fun Game but Reptitious"............. August 14, 2014
Verified Purchase
Red Ball Run is a very fun, simple and basic game...No instructions needed..Easy to learn just move the red ball from left to right avoiding the spikes while collecting coins...See how far you can go without bursting your ball...That is all the game does....After a while I found that this game may become very repetitious and boring for some people...It's really up to the individual and what makes them think a game is exciting...You definitely need some variety here to mix the game up a bit.....

It's the type of game that after playing 2 to 3x you say to yourself, "Is that all there is."

On the main page on the lower left handed corner is a link to the leader board...The lower right handed corner is a link to more of the developers games...There is a mute button for the music and it exits cleanly with a quit button..

Permissions are:

Open network sockets
Access information about networks

It is ad free and has a link to Amazon Game Circle...

5.0 out of 5 stars Straightforward and Fun! August 13, 2014

I give this 5 stars easily. It's exactly as described - a red ball going down an endless grassy lane with coins to collect and spikes to avoid. The controls are very easy, just tap and hold in the direction you want the ball to go, and let go to return it to the center. Your score is determined by how far you get and how many coins you get before running into a spike.

There are 4 options on the main menu besides the play button:

- The one on the right takes you to the leader board to see your scores (and, I'd assume, other player scores as well, I have GameCircle disabled on my device)
- The one on the right takes you to the developer's other games on the appstore
- The center button quits the game.
- The fourth icon toggles sound on and off. I personally would leave it on, as I enjoy music and sound effects. (And the spike collision sounds make me laugh...)

Get it. Just get it. It's free today, it's harmless with no uncalled-for permissions, and it's good fun.

- Sam Kitten
