great ww1 flying game,

This review is from: Red Baron II (CD-ROM)
This is a great game that allows you to fly any ww1 fighter plane from german fokkers to british sopwith camels. you can also set enemy skill level as well as unlimited or limited ammo, feul, etc. there is also missisons which are mostly pretty good. But the best is fly now mode which you can fly a plane of your choice then if you have unlimited ammo you can bomb and strafe the air feilds destroy bulidings, hangers, bridges, factories. the grafics aren't the best but there are hills, forests, trenches, AA guns, ballons, machine guns, cars, trucks. and everything can be desroyed! you can also dogfight with enemy aces, novices, vetrens, elites etc. there are exturnal and inturnal veiws and a map pinpointing your position and showing enemy positions as well as your own. there is also campaign missions were you can color your own plane. this is a great game if your in it for the combat or just the flying. i'd say this game is own of the best ww1 combat/flying simulators and is well worth the purchase.

Still the King,
By
= Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Red Baron II (CD-ROM)
Red Baron has been around a long time and has a huge following. It's the only WWI flight sim that has continued to hold die hard sim followers and recruit new ones. Over Flanders Fields (overflandersfields.com) is the only contender that could touch it and the new OFF Between Heaven & Hell (Phase 3), coming out soon will become the new "King," but even it can not match the multiplay plane volume ability of RB. Anyway, Red Baron II is easily updated to the 3d version, and then that in turn can be updated with the free Hells Angels patch (Google Hells Angels Red Baron) to become a truly worthy flight sim that is still a lot of fun to play in single player or online.

Missing the playability of the original,

= Fun:3.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Red Baron II (CD-ROM)
The game lacks the excitement of the original Red Baron as well as most of the feel. The game engine is decent and the added American Flyer option is ok, but over all the game is still very lacking of its predecessor.
