5.0 out of 5 stars For everyone who's Mom has never quite understood them!
This was one of my favourites as a child, and now that I've reached the ripe old age of 19, I still read it now and then. This book is brilliantly written from a kid's point of view (i.e. "juice tastes better in the red cup"), so all kids will enjoy it. I thought it was a nice touch that Kelly's mom lost patience about having everything red. That is SO...

3.0 out of 5 stars Great story, TINY book.
First of all, the story is wonderful. I enjoy this story, and my 2yo enjoys it, too.

However, when it arrived - the book itself was TINY. It's 3 inches by 3 inches. Absolutely tiny. It's soo small for my 2yo to read himself. It's also too small for him to enjoy the illustrations.

Such a shame. If they made it 6x6 or 8x8, I would have given it...

And just for the record, my red sweater keeps me warmer, my red mitts make better snowballs, my red shoes make my feet dance, my red socks make my toes wiggle.....

5.0 out of 5 stars A must-read for any child or child-at-heart!, November 13, 1998

This is a "feel good" book! I first bought this for my niece, and I loved it so much, I had to get one myself! I think Stinson really hits on the way a child's imagination works. The little girl, Kelly, can do anything when she is wearing her favorite color red. It makes me want to go buy everything red!

5.0 out of 5 stars Red IS Best: Bigger isn't Better, March 15, 2011
This review is from: Red is Best (Annikins) (Paperback)
In addition to being a great story about my FAVORITE color - I also adore the tiny size of this book. I always kept a handful of these tiny books in my purse for distracting toddlers during church or other times when we expected the kids to stay quiet during an adult time. The small size also inspires a whispery voice for reading aloud during these quiet times.

5.0 out of 5 stars This book is a must-have for any library, kid or adult., August 24, 2008
This review is from: Red is Best (Paperback)
This book does not attempt to explain preferences in reasonable terms, but in the terms of a child. The red mittens are best because they make better snowballs. The red paint puts singing in her head. The juice just tastes better in the red cup. She likes red because red is best - just as simple as that.

And we can see from the pictures that some of these arguments (like the one about the red cup and red pajamas) she wins and others (like the red rainboots for the snow) she simply doesn't. Pretty realistic.

My nieces and I also talk about why her red mitts "have holes in them" or why she "hardly has any red paint left". I'm sure you can work it out :)

This is a simple, engaging book with simple, uncluttered illustrations. Please, check it out!

5.0 out of 5 stars awesome book, December 27, 2005
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Red is Best (Paperback)
I discovered this book in the late 80's when my kindergarten teacher read it to us. I liked it so much that I begged my grandma to buy it for me when we were shopping. I had a fascination with the colour pink back then so I could relate. I would only drink my milk or juice in my pink cup and no other, and only sleep if I had my pink blanket and stuff like that just as in this book with red.
