5.0 out of 5 stars ADD means good quality
I ordered this CD set expecting bad quality. I was pleasantly surprised. Of course they are mid '60s songs recorded for a mono 45s market and AM car radios, not today's hi-tech systems. But from what I'd read (including Mr. Ligget's review) I was expecting really bad sound. If you note, this is not the same issue as the original version from the 1990s. It was...

2.0 out of 5 stars A great many songs, many great, in lo-fi
Well, the plus side -- there are a lot of songs here, many of them great, some of them gems I've never seen anywhere else. On the minus side, in most cases the sound is sub-par. Sounds like a bootleg for the most part. Didn't the owner of this record label "allegedly" fall afoul of gangsters? Maybe instead of breaking his legs they messed up his tapes. In a way it's a...

It was apparently remixed. I was surprised to see all of the CDs labelled ADD, not the usual AAD from this era. And they each say that the mix was made in 2001.

You can't beat the song selection, and I'm very pleased with the sound. It's still a little hard to find, so get it while you can.

Sounds like a bootleg for the most part. Didn't the owner of this record label "allegedly" fall afoul of gangsters? Maybe instead of breaking his legs they messed up his tapes. In a way it's a tease to hear a good song in a muffled or even distorted version, but then again, how about to have never heard them at all. At the right price, consider it as a sampler and maybe you'll find some favorites to look for in a better source. If it's any consolation the jazz cuts do sound better than the rock ones.

5.0 out of 5 stars 90 tracks (how many do you remember ?), October 8, 2007

The best thing about hearing label collections such as this is in the discovery of tracks one had not been previously exposed to. A lot of material to digest , especially for those unfamiliar with the label's releases , but what an enjoyable time you will have ! Quantity AND Quality at 33 pennies a track!
