Back To Basics and Basics Are Good.,
This review is from: Red vs Blue: Recreation (DVD)
Well the boys of RvB are back for another adventure in Recreation. Like its predecessor it picks up right where the last chapter left off. After 20 episodes of serious back story the guys of RvB felt it was time to bring back the nuttiness and mayhem that they began with and let me tell you it is great. The first big positive is the return of two of the best characters. Yep you got it, Donut and Tucker make a triumphant return and they never skip a step in their hilarious hyjinxs. Still, there is a great story in these 19 episodes and the ending is definitely one that is going to leave you wanting more. Will there be another RvB series to follow this one? Who knows, but for now just enjoy RvB going back to the basics that made them a cult classic.

i have been a huge fan of the series since it started. but my favorite team is blue. the plot and follow through in this one is a tiny step down since the last one but it's still funny and retains the standards of Red vs.Blue i mean Blue vs. Red, Nobody says red versus blue anymore thats stupid how you said it lol. my only cons are that church doesn't actually take part beyond a like 30 second cameo by him and tex. and that they seem to have forgotten that in season two of the blood gulch chronicles simmons is also made a robot not just church so technically he would have to be an A.I. too. But i digress for to speak even the name of Cabose (that is how it was spelled in bullet holes in season 3) would invite the wrath of the almighty sheila. anyway the "teams" are still divided and the reds are at full strength and the blues are... well caboose is... well he's not dead and he's the only blue at his base. trust me with sarge's so called "leadership style" and cabooses pention for getting people killed/mamed the chances for hilarity are astronomical.

A fun continuation of the story,

This review is from: Red Vs Blue Season 7: Recreation (DVD)
For RVB fans, this DVD offers some fun new chapters of the story, very much in the same vein as the originals. Plenty of laughs, even if all of the old characters didn't make it to the party. These stories reintroduce Church (sort of), Donut, and (eventually) Tucker. Junior is mentioned, but never appears on-screen. Of course, the characters from Season 6 return (Sarge, Caboose, Grif, Simmons, Lopez), and just as in Season 6, Lopez gets some of the best lines.
The plot makes somewhat more sense than the Season 6 plot, but the story is mostly driven by the characters and their dysfunctional personalities and relationships. The disc also has plenty of wonderful extras like PSA's and a mini-series about the Reds re-establishing their base.

All I really knew about this was that it was game based and my older son kept buying installments for my younger son. I started reading reviews and they were so consistently good I figured I should check it out. I'm glad I did. This is more fun than I've had in a while. Recreation is the most recent installment, and I know I should have started at the beginning, but I was still entertained beyond belief. Even without knowing the characters and missing various references to earlier episodes I found I was able to tune in right away to what was happening.
I won't recount the plot because it's rather involved and would take too long. Also, I'm not sure it would matter. The key here is how these guys behave toward each other. They're totally hysterical. The writing is devilishly clever. It actually reminds me of South Park. What's happening is not as important as watching them react to what's happening. There is little movement here. Scenes consist mostly of them standing around in their high tech armor with their guns at ready and talking. The designs of things (the armor, vehicles, backgrounds, etc.) are good. And I understand they're better here than in earlier episodes so it's easy enough on the eyes. As I said, the animation itself isn't that good but it doesn't have to be. You just love what you hear. I may start putting these on my Christmas and birthday lists. Now that I have a taste I'll want to see where it started and how it progressed. I'm not a gamer so I'm probably at a disadvantage on some of what happens here, but what I did get was enough to tickle my funny bone. If clever, funny stuff is your poison, this should fill your cup.

If you are a fan (even if oyu are not a fan) this is hilariously funny. If you get lost, oh well, its still funny. They get into some CGI to keep the story moving along. (a move you come to appreciate).

This review is from: Red vs. Blue: Recreation (Amazon Instant Video)
I, as a person, love this series. I bought the red vs blue recreation as an experiment to see how the Amazon Unbox works (its a amazon promoted program which holds your videos that have been downloaded). The video graphics are okay, I think that Amazon wanted to make sure they could give customers the video in the promised time. I have downloaded two other videos, and they both worked fine. This one has a problem with the fast forward, pause, and rewind buttons, as well as when you minimize the window, the next time you come back to the Amazon Unbox window, the screen is black and you have to rewind to the beginning to restart the video. If you are buying the DVD, I highly recommend it, But definitely not the Video Download.
